    Abstract: A rotary hammer includes a motor, a spindle coupled to the motor for receiving torque from the motor, a piston at least partially received within the spindle for reciprocation therein, and an anvil received within the spindle for reciprocation in response to reciprocation of the piston. The anvil imparts axial impacts to a tool bit in response to reciprocation of the piston. The rotary hammer also includes a bit retention assembly for securing the tool bit to the spindle.

    Abstract: A rotary hammer includes a motor, a spindle coupled to the motor for receiving torque from the motor, a piston at least partially received within the spindle for reciprocation therein, a striker received within the spindle for reciprocation in response to reciprocation of the piston, and an anvil received within the spindle and positioned between the striker and a tool bit. The anvil imparts axial impacts to the tool bit in response to reciprocation of the striker. The rotary hammer also includes a synchronizing assembly operable in a first configuration in which the motor is drivably coupled to the piston for reciprocating the piston, and a second configuration in which the piston is decoupled from the motor. The rotary hammer further includes an actuator operable for switching the synchronizing assembly from the second configuration to the first configuration in response to depressing the tool bit against a workpiece.

    Abstract: System and method for a portable propane-fueled battery charger. One system includes a battery charger including a propane fuel line and an engine including an output shaft. The engine is configured to receive propane via the propane fuel line and rotationally drive the output shaft. The battery charger further includes an alternator including a rotor and stator coils. The output shaft is mechanically coupled to the rotor, and the rotor is rotationally driven by the output shaft. An electrical current is induced in the stator coils by rotation of the rotor. The battery charger further includes an electrical circuit that receives the electrical current and is configured to determine when a battery pack is coupled to a battery connector, and charge the battery pack.

    Abstract: A chainsaw includes a housing having a handle housing portion, a motor housing portion, and a drive housing portion. The handle housing portion has a longitudinal axis that defines a first axis of the chainsaw. The chainsaw also includes a motor having an output shaft with a longitudinal axis that defines a second axis of the chainsaw, a driven gear coupled to the output shaft, a sprocket coupled to the driven gear, and a guide bar extending from the drive housing portion and having a longitudinal axis that defines a third axis of the chainsaw. A chain is supported on the guide bar and engaged with the sprocket. The first axis, the second axis, and the third axis are generally coplanar, and the first axis and the second axis define a first included angle between about 75 degrees and about 95 degrees.

    Abstract: A battery retention system for a power tool having a motor, a drive mechanism coupled to the motor, an output element coupled to the drive mechanism, and latch-receiving recesses for receiving battery pack latches. The battery retention system includes a battery pack for powering the motor. The battery pack is removably coupled to the power tool and includes latches and elongated rails. The system includes a cavity in the power tool for receiving the battery pack in a direction of insertion. Spring arms extend generally in the direction of insertion and each have a projection extending into the cavity for coupling the battery pack to the power tool. The spring arms are configured to deform in engagement with the respective rails of the battery pack when the battery pack is inserted into the cavity. The rails are elongated generally in the direction of insertion.
