    摘要: In using silicone to control thermal runaway in a battery module for an electric vehicle, a mold is provided to hold a plurality of energy storage elements with spaces in between adjacent ones thereof. Substantially uncured silicone polymer mixture is injected into the mold to fill the spaces. During fill of the mold with the injected silicone polymer mixture, variation is introduced of one or more of: a ratio of constituents of the silicone polymer mixture being injected; at least one of a presence or absence of additive(s) in the injected silicone polymer mixture, type(s) of the additive(s) in the injected silicone polymer mixture, or concentrations of the additive(s) in the injected silicone polymer mixture; or mold temperature. Upon completion of the fill of the mold with the injected silicone polymer mixture, curing of the injected silicone polymer mixture is completed. Precise, fast cure of the silicone is achieved.

    摘要: A thermal storage device for batteries is provided. In some examples, the thermal storage device is provided for a battery pack that includes one or more rechargeable battery cells. In some examples, the lithium ion battery cells are used. The thermal storage device is in thermal contact with the battery cell. The thermal storage device is made of a material that absorbs heat that is given off by battery cells during discharge. In some examples, the thermal storage device is made of a plastic material. The material has a relatively low thermal conductivity but a relatively high specific heat capacity, allowing heat energy to be stored in the thermal storage device. The thermal storage device prevents the battery pack from overheating during use. The thermal storage device defines one or more cell receiving volumes. In some examples, an axially extending relief volume is provided.

    摘要: A thermal battery assembly includes a modules configured to be stacked vertically on top of each other. The modules includes an electronics module; a first tank module; and a second tank module. A base defines a bottom of the stack and is configured to receive thereon the lowermost module of the stack for supporting the stack on a floor. Each tank module includes a phase change material (PCM); a heat exchanger assembly with heat exchangers immersed in the phase change material, a first set thereof defining a PCM charging circuit, and a second set defining a PCM discharging circuit; a first exterior connection port configured for fluid communication with an inflow of the PCM discharging circuit and a second exterior connection port configured for fluid communication with an outflow of the PCM discharging circuit. Heating or cooling capacity can be increased by adding another tank module to the stack.

    摘要: The invention provides a battery pack comprising a battery cell assembly and a heat dissipation assembly. The battery cell assembly comprises a battery cell array and a channel arranged in the battery cell array. The battery cell array is formed by arranging a plurality of cells in a certain form. The channel is enclosed by N cells, wherein N>2. The heat dissipation assembly comprises a heat-absorbing member arranged in the channel. The heat-absorbing member comprises N side walls, wherein the N side walls respectively abut against the side walls of the N battery cells. Compared with the prior art, the battery pack has the advantages that the battery pack assists the battery cell assembly in heat dissipation through the heat dissipation assembly, which can make the temperature of each area of the battery cell assembly more balanced.
