Abstract: A first wireless device may generate a first pseudo-random data based on a seed known to a second wireless device, and may transmit a first training signal including first pseudo-random data to the second wireless device for a MI estimation at the second wireless device, the first pseudo-random data being modulated with a first modulation order. The second wireless device may estimate, based on the received first training signal and through the MI estimation, a reception quality associated with at least one modulation order lower than or equal to the first modulation order, and determine a second modulation order of the at least one modulation order lower than or equal to the first modulation order based on the MI estimation, the second modulation order being estimated to provide a reception quality greater than or equal to a reception quality threshold. The MI estimation may be periodic or aperiodic.

Abstract: This disclosure presents an orbital angular momentum (OAM) antenna that includes a plurality of concentric antenna arrays, each antenna array corresponding to a different respective OAM order and being comprised of a different respective set of antenna elements arranged at a different respective radius. The OAM antenna also includes a plurality of phase shifters, each phase shifter corresponding to a different respective antenna array of the plurality of concentric antenna arrays. Each phase shifter is configured to trigger the respective set of antenna elements of a corresponding antenna array to generate a respective OAM beam. According to aspects of the disclosure, each OAM beam generated by a respective antenna array has a same divergence angle as the other OAM beams generated by the other respective antenna arrays of the plurality of concentric antenna arrays.

Abstract: Aspects presented herein may enable a receiving device to receive high frequency signals with a simpler receiver to reduce the overall complexity and cost associated with the receiver. In one aspect, an apparatus receives a reference signal from a second wireless device. The apparatus measures amplitude and phase of the reference signal relative to a set point. The apparatus transmits channel flattening information in a precoding feedback to the second wireless device, the precoding feedback including at least a difference between the amplitude of the reference signal and the set point for a sub-band.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A channel engineering device may receive control signaling that triggers the channel engineering device to perform one or more angle of arrival (AoA) measurements on one or more reference signals and transmit an AoA measurement report based on the AoA measurements. The base station may process the AoA measurement report and send a control message that configures one or more settings at the channel engineering device. The base station may determine a beam shaping configuration that modifies the one or more settings at the channel engineering device to reflect, focus, refract, or filter signal energy of a transmission by the base station toward a user equipment (UE), a transmission by the UE toward the base station, or both. The base station and one or more UEs may communicate using the channel engineering device based on the beam shaping configuration.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A transmitting device (e.g., a user equipment (UE) or base station) may reduce a peak to average power ratio (PAPR) by clipping signals transmitted to a receiving device according to a clipping level. The receiving device may receive, from the transmitting device, an indication of the clipping level associated with a reference signal. The receiving device may receive the reference signal and identify distortions based on the clipping level. The receiving device may iteratively reconstruct peaks of the clipped reference signal until the receiving device is able to obtain accurate pilot symbols for use in channel estimation. The techniques described herein may enable receiving devices to improve efficiency and reliability of communications by improving channel estimation, which may increase the probability of successfully decoding transmitted information.
