摘要： A broadband communication system including an Internet Protocol Telephony Network and public switched telephone network, including apparatus and methods for placing a call on hold in a way that significantly reduces the amount of network bandwidth utilized by the call while the call is on hold. When a call is placed on hold, embodiments of the architecture of the telephony network of the present invention allows the network to essentially “forget” about the call placed on hold. In other words, a call that is on hold may require very little, or even zero, bandwidth within the telephony network. Accordingly, the total necessary bandwidth capacity of the telephony network may be smaller than it would be if calls on hold were to consume precious network bandwidth as is found in existing telephony systems.

摘要： The present invention provides a method, system and device/phone/computer for anonymous call rejection in an Internet Protocol telephony network. The method includes the steps of: determining whether a caller identification ID is available/identifiable for an incoming call; and rejecting the incoming call where the caller ID is unavailable or unidentifiable. The system includes a Caller Identification Unit, for determining whether a caller identification ID is available/identifiable for an incoming call and a Call Rejection Unit, coupled to the Caller Identification Unit, for rejecting the incoming call where the caller ID is unavailable or unidentifiable. A device/phone/computer of the invention provides a caller identification processing/rejecting unit and a transceiver. The caller identification processing/rejecting unit determines whether a caller identification ID is available or identifiable for an incoming call and rejects the incoming call where the caller ID is unavailable or unidentifiable. The transceiver is coupled to the caller identification processing/rejecting unit and is used for transmitting and for receiving calls when the caller ID is available or identifiable.

摘要： A method for providing a local cordless service comprises the steps of receiving subscriber neighborhood zone selection input so that a mobile telephone equipped subscriber may place or receive calls for a fixed rate, for example, per month without having to pay radio frequency air time charges any time they are located within their selected subscribed-to zones. If the subscribed-to zones are adjacent to one another and the mobile subscriber roams from one zone to another, the subscriber may continue their free call uninterrupted and without paying air time charges. However, when the subscriber roams outside their subscribed-to zones they may be switched from the present local cordless services to conventional personal communications services and pay air time charges. However for an active call, no air-time charges are incurred as the user transitions between the cellular/DPCS environment and the local cordless service environment. Associated apparatus comprises an IBS for automatically changing radio frequency channels as the subscriber roams within a subscribed-to neighborhood zone, roams to another subscribed-to zone or roams outside a subscribed-to zone. Subscribers may choose to use their mobile identification number, their current directory telephone number for wired public switched telephone service or obtain a new directory number. Subscribers can actuate their service over-the-air automatically without service personnel assistance from their home neighborhood zone.

The wireless communications stations includes a receiver, a signal strength measuring device, a filter and a noise generator. The receiver receives a digitally modulated radio voice signal and the signal strength measuring device measures a signal strength of the received radio voice signal. The filter removes noise signals present with the received radio voice signal when the signal strength is below a predetermined threshold, and the a noise generator generates a noise signal for combination with the received voice signal.

摘要： A telephone communication system addresses calls to a particular subscriber via both a wired terminal and through the wired terminal by radio to a wireless communicator device. The wired terminal is hard wired to a telephone network and the wireless device is coupled by radio to the wired terminal which is in turn hardwired to the telephone network. Both the wired terminal and the wireless communicator ring in response to an incoming call and the call may be answered by the subscriber via either device.
