    摘要: The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device which exhibits the excellent wide viewing angle characteristic and the high-speed responsiveness. A pixel region includes a switching element which is operated in response to a scanning signal from a gate signal line, a pixel electrode to which a video signal from a drain signal line is supplied through a switching element, and a counter electrode which generates an electric field between the counter electrode and the pixel electrode. The pixel region is constituted of divided respective regions. In one region, the counter electrode made of a light-transmitting material which is formed on the center except for a slight periphery of the region below an insulation film and the pixel electrode which is constituted of a group of electrodes which extend in one direction and are arranged in parallel to each other in the direction which intersects one direction above the insulation film in a state that the group of electrodes are overlapped to the counter electrode are formed. In another region, the counter electrode which is constituted of a group of electrodes which extend in one direction and are arranged in parallel to each other in the direction which intersects one direction below the insulation layer and the pixel electrode which is constituted of a group of electrodes which extend in one direction and are arranged in parallel in the direction which intersects one direction above the insulation film and is arranged alternately with the counter electrode are formed.

    摘要: There is disclosed a transflective liquid crystal display device having reflective portions having an improved contrast ratio. At each subpixel of the display device, a pixel electrode is shared between transmissive and reflective portions. Independent counter electrodes are used respectively for the transmissive and reflective portions. Different potentials are applied to the counter electrodes for the transmissive and reflective portions. The transmissive portion operates in normally black mode. That is, the transmissive portion displays black when no voltage is applied. The reflective portion operates in normally white mode. That is, the reflective portion displays white when no voltage is applied. The liquid crystal layer in the reflective portion is thicker than the liquid crystal layer in the transmissive portion.

At the crossing point where the column is formed, the drain line is formed to have a wider width to prevent light leakage. Further, at the crossing point where the column is formed, the scanning line is formed to have a narrower width to prevent increase of capacitance between the drain line and the scanning line. The column is formed at a crossing point corresponding to a specific color, e.g., a blue pixel B, so that a difference in transmittance and in characteristic of thin film transistors due to formation of the column is initially compensated.

    摘要: Reflective electrodes having unevenness are formed on a resin layer of a TFT substrate. A coating-type ITO film having a film thickness of 0.5 μm to 1 μm which constitute a pixel electrode is applied to the reflective electrode. A surface of the coating-type ITO film is leveled. A capacitive insulation film is formed on the pixel electrode, and a comb-teeth-shaped common electrode is formed on the capacitive insulation film. When a voltage is applied between the common electrode and the pixel electrode, liquid crystal is controlled by a leaked electric field. Since the common electrode is formed in a planar plane, a thickness of a liquid crystal layer can be made uniform.
