摘要： An information recording apparatus is for recording user data and recording management data onto an information recording medium being provided with: a first recording layer; and a second recording layer, each of the first recording layer and the second recording layer having a user data area to record therein at least the user data and a recording management area to record therein at least the recording management data for managing recording of the user data, the information recording apparatus is provided with: a recording device for dividing the recording management area into a plurality of recording management segments and for recording the recording management data into at least one of the plurality of recording management segments; and a first controlling device for controlling the recording device to dispose each of the plurality of recording management segments in a single recording layer.

摘要： An information recording apparatus (1) is provided with: a recording device (310) for recording record information onto an information recording medium by irradiating the information recording medium (100) with laser light with a recording power according to a set value; a calculating device (340) for preparing correlation information which represents a correlation between the set value and reproduction quality, and for obtaining a reference set value which gives target reproduction quality as being desired reproduction quality, by reproducing test-record information recorded with changing the set value on the recording device; a measuring device (330) for measuring the reproduction quality, by reproducing the record information recorded by using the reference set value on the recording device; and an adjusting device (400) for obtaining adjustment amount of the reference set value on the basis of the correlation information if the reproduction quality measured by the measuring device is different from the target reproduction quality, and for adjusting the reference set value such that a set value which is adjusted based on the adjustment amount is to be a new reference set value.

摘要： In a recording strategy suitable for high-speed recording, a laser driving signal includes a top pulse having a pulse width corresponding to a recording mark length and multi-pulses having a period 3-times larger than a base clock period of a recording mark. The top pulse is has the first identical-shape top pulses when the recording mark length is 3nT (“n” is a natural number), the second identical-shape top pulses when the recording mark length is (3n+1)T, and the third identical-shape top pulses when the recording mark length is (3n+2)T.

摘要： An object of the invention is to provide an optical disc in which the influence of recording interference is reduced to make it possible to narrow the interval between adjacent recording tracks and increase the recording density of information. The optical disc comprises a substrate on which the grooves are formed, a reflecting layer for reflecting an optical beam, a recording layer, and a cover layer for protecting the recording layer, in which the cover layer, the recording layer, the reflecting layer and the substrate are disposed in this order from the side where the optical beam is applied, and the thickness of the recording layer formed in an area opposed to the groove and forming a recording track is greater than the thickness of the recording layer formed in an area opposed to an area on the substrate between two adjacent grooves.
