摘要: A packet forwarding apparatus with a function of registering packet forwarding control information for each user terminal into a user management table during PPPoE connection and authentication phases in which the apparatus carries out predetermined communication procedures with each user terminal. During DHCP and IP forwarding phases following the authentication phase, the packet forwarding apparatus controls packet forwarding based on the user management table. Packets are forwarded in the form of PPPoE frame until the authentication phase is completed and packets are forwarded in the form of Ethernet frame in the DHCP and IP forwarding phases.

摘要: A process for producing a magnetic tape is provided, in which a web is extended in the width direction immediately before it is cut by a slitter when the web is supplied to the slitter to be cut into several magnetic tapes. The extension of the web is performed by an extension roller apparatus comprises a backup roller for rolling the web and a pair of horizontally disposed extension rollers which elastically push the web WB at portions near both sides thereof to allow the web for extending in the width direction.

摘要: An endoscope system includes a processor. The processor is physically connectable to different endoscopes to receive and process signals from an endoscope that is selectively physically connected to the processor. The processor includes a database that stores pieces of endoscope data each corresponding to a different endoscope. Each piece of endoscope data is associated with ownership information. The pieces of endoscope data indicate whether usage of a physically connected endoscope is authorized. The ownership information indicates a term for which the physically connected endoscope is allowed to be utilized. An output outputs the ownership information.

摘要: An electronic endoscope displays the date so as to enable the year, month, and day to be differentiated on a screen when displaying a date together with the object image. The electronic endoscope is provided with, in a processor, a central processing unit (CPU), a real time clock (RTC), a cathode ray tube controller (CRTC) and a character generator read only memory (CG-RORM) and, on the outside, a keyboard and monitor. A date is read from the RTC and a character code corresponding to the year, month, and day to be displayed on the screen of the monitor is read from the CG-ROM at the CRTC. The character code is transmitted as a character signal to the monitor, and the date is displayed on the screen along with the object image, the month being displayed by a green color and the year and day by a white color at this time.

摘要: An electronic endoscope of the present invention includes a video-scope, video-processor, a light source, a luminance value calculator, a light-adjuster, and a determiner. The luminance value calculator successively calculates a luminance value indicating brightness of the object image, on the basis of said image-pixel signals. The light-adjuster adjusts a quantity of light radiating from the distal end of the video-scope on the basis of a difference between the luminance value and a reference value indicating a proper brightness of the object image at regular-time-intervals, such that the brightness of said object image displayed on the monitor is maintained at a constant level. The determiner determines whether halation occurs on the object image displayed on the monitor, on the basis of the luminance value. The light-adjuster includes a light-reducer. The light-reducer reduces the quantity of light radiating from the distal end of said video-scope by a predetermined percentage independent of the difference between the luminance value and the reference value when halation occurs on the object image.

摘要: A method and apparatus for tracking the use of a distributable software application uses two identification codes and a tracking assistant to monitor the operation and distribution of the software application. A first code is preferably a downloaded identification code created when the user accesses a web server. The first identification code and other registration data is stored in a database coupled to the web server. A second unique installation code is automatically created when the software application is installed in the user's computer. Subsequent installations of the application using the same first code results in a different installation code. The tracking assistant module automatically transmits both codes to a database via a network (Internet) according to a predetermined schedule. One embodiment of the tracking assistant also collects other data on the use of the application, such as frequency of use or features commonly used, and transmits it along with the two codes as tracking data. A tracking data analyzer is preferably coupled to the database to determine if unauthorized use of the application is occurring or to assist in providing individual customer support and service functions.

摘要: In an electronic endoscope, a flexible scope has an image sensor provided at a distal end thereof. A video-signal processing unit, to which a proximal end of the flexible scope is connected, processes image signals read from the sensor. A light source is provided in the unit, and light, emitted from the light source, is guided through the scope and radiates from the distal end. An aperture-stop is associated with the source that regulates the radiation of light from the distal end. An aperture-stop is controlled in accordance with the luminance-signal-histogram, such that an image having a constant luminance level is reproduced in accordance with the processed image signals. When a localized halation occurs on the reproduced image, the aperture-stop is controlled such that the radiation of light from the distal end is forcibly decreased, thereby avoiding the occurrence of the localized halation.
