    摘要: In at least some embodiments, a receiver includes channel estimation logic configured to a process a long training field symbol having a doubled cyclic prefix. The channel estimation logic is configured to vary an amount of the doubled cyclic prefix used for channel estimation. Further, in some embodiments, a wireless communication device includes logic to enable communications based on at least two long training field symbols having a doubled cyclic prefix as part of a synchronization header. Further, in some embodiments, a method includes receiving a long training field symbol having a synchronization header with a doubled cyclic prefix and varying an amount of the doubled cyclic prefix used for channel estimation.

    摘要: A WCDMA system and method of data communication allows a receiver to reliably achieve carrier frequency acquisition following turn-on without use of temperature compensation. Initial frequency acquisition is achieved by estimating the signal path position having the largest magnitude and then by estimating the phase difference associated with primary synchronization channels at a predetermined position within a single frame. The estimated phase difference is used to estimate a carrier frequency offset that can be used to adjust the local voltage controlled oscillator frequency, thereby acquiring the WCDMA communication signal carrier frequency.

    摘要: A method and apparatus achieves rapid timing synchronization, carrier frequency synchronization, and sampling rate synchronization of a receiver to an orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) signal. The method uses two OFDM training symbols to obtain full synchronization in less than two data frames. A first OFDM training symbol has only even-numbered sub-carriers, and substantially no odd-numbered sub-carriers, an arrangement that results in half-symbol symmetry. A second OFDM training symbol has even-numbered sub-carriers differentially modulated relative to those of the first OFDM training symbol by a predetermined sequence. Synchronization is achieved by computing metrics which utilize the unique properties of these two OFDM training symbols. Timing synchronization is determined by computing a timing metric which recognizes the half-symbol symmetry of the first OPDM training symbol. Carrier frequency offset estimation is performed in using the timing metric as well as a carrier frequency offset metric which peaks at the correct value of carrier frequency offset. Sampling rate offset estimation is performed by evaluating the slope of the locus of points of phase rotation due to sampling rate offset as a function of sub-carrier frequency number.
