摘要: The present invention relates to a method for forming an article having a protective ceramic coating which reduces radiation heat transport through the ceramic coating. The protective ceramic coating includes one or more embedded reflective metallic layers for reducing the radiation heat transport. The method for forming the protective coating broadly comprises the steps of forming a ceramic coating on a substrate and embedding at least one reflective metallic layer within the ceramic coating.

摘要: A method of updating a knowledge base containing information about a subject matter, the knowledge base being used to automatically respond to messages containing questions or comments relating to the subject matter, the method includes the steps of logging the message in a log if the knowledge base does not address the message; providing the logged message to a subject matter expert; and permitting the subject matter expert, but not other users of the knowledge base, to update the knowledge base in response to the logged message. The method further includes the steps of sending the logged message to one or more persons on a list of people with knowledge about the subject matter; receiving a message from at least one of the persons and logging the received message in association with the logged message; and the step of providing the logged message further provides the received message to the subject matter expert. The method of the present invention represents and uses stored knowledge to formulate a query for each entry and associate the query with a piece of the stored knowledge so that the piece of stored knowledge is retrieved when a message satisfies the query.

摘要: A method and system for measuring the usage of a focus resource by a target program which has a plurality of call paths and at least one procedure, which allows a user to select a focus call path from a call path profile and compute a refinement call path profile which shows the usage of the focus resource by refinement call paths of the focus call path. Methods and systems are disclosed for deriving the call path profile, pruning and unpruning the call path profile, defining function groups, optimizing and contextualizing. Computation of the refinement call path profile can be performed by immediate upward or downward and extended upward or downward refinement of the call path profile.

摘要: Ladles and the like into which hot metal is teemed are refractory lined to withstand the high-temperature effects of the hot metal. Prior to teeming of the hot metal into the ladle, the ladle is heated by applying a flame to the interior thereof, which flame is provided by a burner that directs the flame through a ladle cover plate having a substantially flat surface covered with heat-insulating refractory material, which surface is brought into sealing engagement with the ladle. This seal minimizes the amount of heat energy that escapes from the ladle to render the preheating operation more efficient. The rim of the ladle, which contacts in sealing engagement the heat-insulating refractory material of the ladle cover plate, causes wear and damage to the heat-insulating refractory material. Deposits of slag and metal build up along the rim of the ladle and this further contributes to the wear and damage to the heat-insulating refractory material when the ladle cover plate is brought into sealing engagement with the rim of the ladle. The present invention provides a ladle cover plate having a ring of refractory modules that are individually, removably secured to the surface of the ladle cover plate which ring mates with the ladle rim when the ladle cover plate is brought into sealing engagement therewith. Consequently, when excessive wear or damage occurs the modules may be removed and replaced in an efficient and economical manner.

摘要: Apparatus for spark perforation of sheet material comprising spaced apart first and second electrodes which define between them a sparking zone through which sheet material to be perforated can be moved in a predetermined direction, and in which the portion of the first electrode which is nearest to the nearest portion of the second electrode is located between an overlap position upstream of the second electrode in the direction of movement of the sheet by a distance of 1 mm and an offset position also equal to 1 mm in the direction of movement of the sheet, and means for guiding the sheet through the sparking zone along a path closer to said second electrode than said first electrode.

摘要: A spark perforation apparatus includes a rotary electrode assembly for effecting spark perforation of sheet material passing between the electrodes of the assembly and a suitably juxtapositioned earthed surface. The electrode assembly comprises a first set of annular electrodes for connection to a suitable power source, a second set of annular electrodes alternating with and of greater external diameter than the electrodes of the first set, and dielectrical material spacing the electrodes so as to form a series of parallel capacitors.
