摘要: Analysis is made on the DNA methylation of the region (including a promoter region) upstream from the translation initiation point of a rheumatoid arthritis-associated gene DR3 in human genome. As a result, it is found out that an allele-specific methylation occurs in a CpG sequence located about −380 to −180 bp upstream from translation initiation point (ATG) of the gene DR3. It is further found out that the CpG sequences downstream therefrom of the genes DR3 originating in healthy subjects are all in the unmethylated state, while methylated and unmethylated sequences are both observed in the genes DR3 originating in RA patients.

摘要: A printing apparatus and an ink-discharge status detection method which perform appropriate print control by detecting discharge failure with a simple construction, without reducing the printing speed. The apparatus, to which the method is applied, performs test ink discharge from a part of nozzles of a printhead while scanning the printhead, and detects ink discharge statuses of the nozzles of the printhead by using a photosensor in an area between the home position of the printhead and a position outside of an effective printing area. In next detection, nozzles different from those used in the previous test ink discharge are used for performing test ink discharge, and discharge statuses are detected. Discharge statuses of all the nozzles are detected in forward and backward scannings or a plurality of scannings.

摘要: An ink-jet printed product is formed by printing an image with a plurality of similar color inks having different concentrations and a special ink having a single concentration. In the product, graininess resulting from ink dots is decreased for all hues of the printed image. A decision is made as to whether or not a hue of an image to be printed can be printed with inks without the special ink of a color (for example, special color BL (blue)) having a single concentration. When it is decided that the hue of the image is to be printed with inks without the special color ink, data on ink color BL (blue) is decomposed into data on C (cyan) and data on M (magenta). The hue can be printed without the color BL, thereby significantly decreasing graininess in a portion having this hue.

摘要: A liquid ejecting apparatus, such as an ink-jet printing apparatus includes a blade for wiping a surface of a liquid ejecting head for ejecting a liquid and a device for cleaning the blade with achieving expansion of life and permitting efficient process. The apparatus achieves reduction of frequency of scrubbing contact between the blade and the liquid ejecting surface and high efficiency in recovery process associated with wiping operation and so forth. Also, by providing a washing liquid for the blade upon termination of printing, the blade may be maintained in sufficiently wetted condition.

摘要: A printing apparatus has a printing head which is subjected to environmental temperature variation and generates a large amount of heat. Stable ejection of a printing liquid can be constantly performed by temperature control of the printing head. The printing apparatus having the printing head therein includes a fluid passage provided in contact with the head, a fluid supply device for supplying a fluid to the fluid passage, and a heater for controlling temperature of the supplied fluid to maintain the temperature of the fluid within a predetermined range. The printing head is provided with a water tube for cooling water, which water tube gradually varies its cross sectional area. By this, flow velocity of the cooling water is gradually increased on the upstream side and maintained to have a large constant flow velocity on the downstream side.

摘要: An ink jet printing apparatus for industrial use, which is provided with a comparatively large number of nozzles arranged for high duty recording, particularly an ink jet textile printing apparatus, and an ink jet printing apparatus suitably used for printing on a large-sized medium, are provided together with a method for controlling the temperature of the printing head of such high duty printing apparatuses, and various other types of printing apparatuses reliably. To the large number of heaters used for recording in a printing step, driving signals are applied to cause them to discharge ink for recording and, to the discharge heaters that are not to perform recording, secondary driving signals that do not allow ink to discharge are applied. These secondary driving signals cause the heaters not used in recording to generate heat, so as to reduce unevenness in the intensities of heat generation among the many discharge heaters of the printing head. At the same time, cooling water is supplied by a cooling device to a cooling liquid path arranged for the printing head in order to cool it.
