摘要: An ink jet printing apparatus for industrial use, which is provided with a comparatively large number of nozzles arranged for high duty recording, particularly an ink jet textile printing apparatus, and an ink jet printing apparatus suitably used for printing on a large-sized medium, are provided together with a method for controlling the temperature of the printing head of such high duty printing apparatuses, and various other types of printing apparatuses reliably. To the large number of heaters used for recording in a printing step, driving signals are applied to cause them to discharge ink for recording and, to the discharge heaters that are not to perform recording, secondary driving signals that do not allow ink to discharge are applied. These secondary driving signals cause the heaters not used in recording to generate heat, so as to reduce unevenness in the intensities of heat generation among the many discharge heaters of the printing head. At the same time, cooling water is supplied by a cooling device to a cooling liquid path arranged for the printing head in order to cool it.

摘要: To rinse a cleaning member, a rinsing liquid is discharged from a nozzle onto the cleaning member to wipe the discharging port surface of the liquid discharging apparatus. The foregoing cleaning member is thus maintained in a rinsed condition at all times, thereby obtaining high cleaning performance of the liquid discharging port surface and long-term, stable liquid discharge from the liquid discharging head. A liquid suction force is also created in the cleaning member to draw the viscous ink from the nozzles when the liquid discharging port surface of the liquid discharging head is wiped, thereby further enhancing the cleaning performance.

摘要: A printing apparatus and a print control method which detect a defective printing element in operation failure status while reciprocate-scanning a printhead, and perform appropriate print control such as complementary printing on an unprinted portion by the defective printing element, without reducing the printing speed. An apparatus, to which the method is applied, has a photosensor 8, to detect ink discharge statuses of a plurality of nozzles of a printhead 5, which is provided between a home position of the printhead and the outside of an effective printing area where image printing is to be made. While the printhead 5 is scanned, test ink discharge is performed at the position of the photosensor 8, and the ink discharge statuses of the nozzles are detected by the photosensor 8. A corrector 123 analyzes the operation statuses of the nozzles of the printhead 5 based on the results of detection in a real time manner. A CPU 25 performs print control based on the results of analysis.

摘要: An object is to suppress deterioration of a displayed image even when a refresh rate is reduced in displaying a still image. A liquid crystal display device includes a pixel transistor electrically connected to a pixel electrode, and a capacitor having one electrode electrically connected to the pixel electrode and the other electrode electrically connected to a capacitor line. The pixel transistor is turned on and a voltage based on an image signal is supplied to the pixel electrode, and then, the pixel transistor is turned off so that a holding period during which the pixel electrode holds the voltage based on the image signal starts. A holding signal corresponding to change of the voltage based on the image signal in the pixel electrode in the holding period is supplied to the capacitor line so that a potential of the pixel electrode is constant.

摘要: An object is to provide a driving method of a liquid crystal display device with a low power consumption and a high image quality. A pixel includes a liquid crystal element and a transistor which controls supply of an image signal to the liquid crystal element. The transistor includes, in a channel formation region, a semiconductor which has a wider band gap than a silicon semiconductor and has a lower intrinsic carrier density than silicon, and has an extremely low off-state current. In inversion driving of pixels, image signals having opposite polarities are input to a pair of signal lines between which a pixel electrode is disposed. By employing such a structure, the quality of the displayed image can be increased even in the absence of a capacitor in the pixel.

摘要: To extend the range of distance (between a display screen and the eye of a viewer) with which the viewer can see 3D images with the naked eye and to reduce power consumption. A parallax barrier in a shutter panel is controlled to be arranged optimally in accordance with the distance between the viewer and a display panel. Specifically, an optimal parallax barrier is formed as appropriate by selectively switching a light-transmitting state and a light-shielding state of a plurality of optical shutter regions and a display element unit of pixels depending on a retention state. The retention state is realized in such a manner that at least one of electrodes between which a liquid crystal layer is sandwiched is connected to a transistor including a semiconductor layer containing an oxide semiconductor and the transistor is turned off.

摘要: The liquid crystal display device includes a pixel portion including first and second regions and light sources. The first and second regions each include a liquid crystal element whose transmissivity is controlled in accordance with a voltage of an image signal and a transistor for controlling holding of the voltage, whose off-state current is extremely low. The light sources perform first and second drivings: lights whose hues are different from each other are sequentially supplied to the first region in a first rotating order and the lights are sequentially supplied to the second region in a second rotating order which is different from the first rotating order in the first driving; and a light having a single hue is supplied consecutively to one or both of the first and second regions in the second driving. The period for holding the voltage is different between the first and second drivings.
