    摘要: A call services manager and methods for improving the quality and efficiency of voice of Internet Protocol (“VOIP”) calls are provided. In an embodiment a method to improve communication link utilization on a call requiring the use of a central service platform is provided. An additional method is provided to validate caller identification information exchanged between originating and terminating communication devices in an IP voice network. In a further aspect of the invention, a method using a call services manager is provided to dynamically switch from one call route to another based on quality of service considerations. A call services manager is also provided. The call services manager is a software proxy that can reside at any type of network element. The call services manager includes software modules to implement the above methods for improving VOIP quality, and can include other call service and quality improvement modules.

    摘要: A system and method of controlling access to one or more electronic devices is disclosed. The method can include the step of—out of a plurality of electronic devices—identifying a master device and a slave device. The master device can be configured to control access to at least one feature of the slave device, and the master device can be associated with a person who has supervisory authority over another person who uses the slave device. During an active session on the slave device, a pre-disablement warning can be sent to the slave device in which the pre-disablement warning can identify a first time period by which access to the feature of the slave device is to be prevented. A disablement message can be sent to the slave device, thereby preventing access to the feature of the slave device following the expiration of the first time period.

    摘要: A legacy device bridge for use in a network, such as a wired or wireless residential network, is provided. The legacy device bridge performs protocol conversion to enable a network-attached entity that uses a packet-based communication protocol to communicate with and control legacy devices, such as consumer electronics, that rely exclusively on infrared (IR) or serial communication protocols. The legacy device bridge also performs a virtualization function that allows legacy devices to be advertised to the network as devices that comply with a packet-based discovery and control protocol, and to be controlled as such. The legacy device bridge is also adapted to probe, deduce and publish information relating to the state of a legacy device to other entities on the network.
