    摘要： Disclosed is an absorbent article, such as a sanitary napkin, incontinent device, or the like. The absorbent article includes a liquid pervious topsheet, a liquid impervious backsheet, and an absorbent core that lies between the topsheet and the backsheet. The absorbent article further includes a pair of longitudinally extending bands of web material positioned on the body surface of the topsheet on each side of a longitudinal centerline of the absorbent article and joined to at least one of the topsheet and the backsheet in a longitudinally elastically elongated state. The bands of web material include first and second regions which are visibly distinct from each other. The first region has at least two substantially planar portions and the second has a plurality of rib elements. In a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, at least one of the substantially planar portions of the first region of the bands of web material extends in a substantially longitudinal direction and at least one other of the substantially planar portions of the first region of the bands of web material is oriented at an angle with respect to the longitudinal direction. Alternative embodiments of the present invention can also have flaps which extend laterally outward from a side edge of the central absorbent body positioned at least in a middle region of the absorbent article.

    摘要： An absorbent article having an expandable component. The expandable component comprises a compressed, resilient element disposed within an air impermeable envelope. The compressed element provides the absorbent article with a thin, low bulk profile prior to use of the disposable absorbent article, thereby reducing shipping and storage space. At the point of use of the absorbent article, the air impervious envelope is opened, thereby permitting entry of air into the envelope and expansion of the compressed element. In one embodiment the expandable component is a spacer for maintaining fecal void space in a disposable diaper. Alternatively, the expandable component can provide displacement of the topsheet relative to the backsheet along the longitudinal centerline of a sanitary napkin.

    摘要： An absorbent article, such as a sanitary napkin or incontinence guard, comprises a liquid-impermeable surface layer which is remote from the wearer when the article is worn, a liquid-permeable surface layer which faces towards the wearer in use, and an absorbent pad which is contained between the two surface layers. The absorbent pad is arched in a transverse direction, at least at its center part, and therewith exhibits a convex surface on the side of the pad which faces the wearer in use. The edges of the article are restrained from flexing toward the liquid-permeable surface, and the transverse arch is maintained by a restraining device attached to the longitudinal edges of the article.

    摘要： In accordance with the present invention, a sanitary napkin having a body surface and a garment surface and being comprised of an absorbent means underlayed by a liquid barrier means, wherein the sanitary napkin is relatively highly flexible and has a capacity great enough to handle medium to high menstrual flows, is provided. In a preferred embodiment, the sanitary napkin comprises, from the body surface down, an apertured formed film topsheet, an apertured nonwoven wipe acquisition sheet, a wet-laid tissue, a superabsorbent core, and a barrier sheet. Preferably, the central width of the absorbents is at least about 6.5 centimeters and the caliper of the napkin as a whole is less than about 2.6 millimeters. In a preferred embodiment, the napkin has laterally extending flaps which drape over the edges of the wearer's panties in the crotch and are attachable to the garment side of the wearer's panties.
