A quick release interconnect and locking device having a male element that includes a base plate and a cylindrical post attached disposed outwardly from the base plate. A generally circular and planar D-disc is disposed on a distal end of the post. The D-disc includes a flat sliding face defined by a cord truncating a portion of the D-disc. The apparatus also has a female element with a contoured channel that includes an upper portion, a medial portion, and a lower locking portion. A keeper plate with a longitudinally disposed slot is placed over the contoured channel. The medial portion of the contoured channel includes an upper locking face terminating at a lower end in an outward radius, such that when the sliding face of the D-disc is aligned parallel with the upper locking face, the D-disc may be translated downwardly in the contoured channel until it encounters the locking portion. The D-disc may then be rotated again until the sliding face is brought into alignment with a lower locking face of the lower locking portion, and the D-disc may then be translated downwardly in the lower locking portion to a semi-circular portion at the bottom of the contoured channel, where the D-disc may be rotated again to lock it in the lower locking portion.

An external pressurized canister allows easier servicing or replacement of the pressurized canister as well as the ability to maintain the chamber in an un-pressurized condition, allowing non-HASMAT shipping. These features extend the service intervals while maintaining the fire extinguisher in a ready condition. The fire extinguisher is construction of components that are interchangeable and provide equal operation for left and right handed people.

The personalised fire fighter devices also transmit to the repeaters the signals received from the pressure gauges for each fire fighter using the ABU's (autonomous breathing units). The signals sent by the repeaters are transmitted to the central system, which forwards them to a computer where all the information is displayed. The central system also emits signals to the fire fighters, either directly or through the repeaters. The personalised device turns on automatically when it detects motion.

Preferably, a flexible funnel cover is fitted onto the top of the funnel top portion. The flexible funnel cover includes a plurality of flexible and resilient funnel cover flaps.

A handbrake automatically keeps the handcart in place on uneven ground. A foldable wash table engageable to a keel drawbar receptacle enables hazardous material decontamination, especially in conjunction with a water reservoir and a splash guard protecting the handcart. For explosive ordinance disposal, a disrupter arm may be mounted to the keel drawbar receptacle, especially with a blast shield attached to the rear of the handcart for personnel protection.
