摘要： In this invention, a popcorn service bowl fabricated of microwave penetrable materials is arranged with an opened top end covered by a snap-on removable cover and a bottom end terminating in a compartment inherent to the bowl. The compartment is accessible from the bowl through multiple apertures in the bottom of the bowl and has an opening opposite the apertured bowl bottom which is covered by a removable snap-on cover. This cover and compartment arrangement adapts the bowl to be inverted and useful for popping popcorn in a microwave oven and for serving the popcorn popped with the bowl upright and the top end cover removed. The compartment is useful as a receptacle for containment and disposal of unpopped kernels of popcorn and as a resting base for the bowl. With the bowl inverted, the compartment is also useful for melting and distributing a buttering substance over the popped popcorn.

摘要： A microwavable package, comprising a folded package for use in holding a variety of cookable items, such as popcorn, other food products, or other substances, all to be heated within a microwave oven, the package being formed of a polymer material, comprising one or more liners of such laminated material, with the package being formed into the tubular configuration, and having a paper or paper-like web of material located and adhesively secured within its manufacturer's joint; the formed tubular like material is then folded at its bottom segments, adhered temporarily through the usage of a hot melt of other adhesive, and having a paper or paper like seal applied thereover, to form a fully integrated and foldable package which is capable of functioning and maintaining its structural integrity even when exposed to the energy of a microwave oven. The process for forming this package, through the application of a strip of paper web laminated onto polymer film during the formation of the tubular shape for the intended package, and then cutting the packages along their full intended height, for eventual folding of their bottom flaps into closure, forms the packages of this design.

摘要： A shelf-stable combination of an easily openable bag and a mixture of edible popcorn ingredients is suitable for use in microwave ovens. The bag includes a bottom panel, a top panel, a back panel, and inwardly folded gusseted side panels such that the bag can be flattened along the top edge opposite the bottom panel. The bag is formed by an outer layer of paper and an inner layer of non-wicking material with a coating that is sensitive to a combination of heat and pressure. A peelable seal is formed by the coating along the top edge such that the bag can be opened along that edge by pulling on diagonally opposite corners. The ingredients include corn kernels having a moisture content of about 11.5 percent or more and the peelable seal has sufficent strength to remain closed for at least one-half of the time required to pop substantially all of these kernels. The top edge seal opens before popping is completed to release steam and prevent the popped corn from becoming too chewy.

摘要： In making a tubular bag, a first band of thermosetting glue is printed across the length of a web, and a second and third band of such glue is printed on the opposite side of the web in registry with the ends of the first band. The printed glue is then dried with a heat below that of the softening temperature of the thermosetting glue. Glue is applied to a marginal edge of the web and the marginal edges are overlapped and thus glued together as a back seam. An increment of the tube is severed at said bands without heating such bands, and the web is folded along a line extending centrally through the glue bands. The bands are simultaneously clamped together and heated to fuse the bag layers together at the bands.

摘要： An expandable container, formed of a unitary blank of paperboard, including a planar base panel and a plurality of planar fins foldable over the panel to enclose a conical volume. The fins serially overlap and are self-locking in the closed position, and are expandable into the open position by a force exerted from the inside thereof. Such a force can be provided by the popping of corn kernels located therein when the container is heated in a microwave oven. The fins each are trapezoidal in shape, have an interior fold line separating each into a triangular area and a parallelogram shaped area, and are hingedly coupled to the next two adjacent fins.

The package is sealed to permit internal pressure to develop to expand the bag so that the corn has sufficient space for the increased volume assumed after popping. The charge of popcorn in the bag is uniformly mixed with about 1 to 5 parts by weight of a shortening for each 8 parts by weight of corn. The shortening comprises an edible solid or liquid fat and the package contains salt for flavoring.
