Abstract:
A method and device for applying sealing strips to packages, whereby the strips are applied to the packages as these are transferred between respective transverse pockets on three conveyors traveling at the same speed and in the same direction, the first conveyor being a loop conveyor located between a feed conveyor and an output conveyor. The strips are supplied in such a position as to close the end of the pockets on the loop conveyor facing the feed conveyor, and the packages complete one full turn of the loop conveyor prior to being transferred on to the output conveyor.
Abstract:
In the production of packs with adhesively bonded folding tabs, especially of (soft) cup packs for cigarettes, it is necessary to keep the just finished packs for a while in an environment which preserves or improves their shape before they are discharged. For this purpose, an elongated pack channel (31) is provided, into which the finished packs (20) are pushed at one end (inserting opening 32) and which the packs leave after some time at the opposite end (discharge opening 33). The pack channel (31) has a cross-section which stabilizes or improves the cross-sectional shape of the pack (20). A plurality of pack channels (31) are mounted on a conveyor (channel conveyor 41) side-by-side. The packs (20) are inserted and ejected during a continuous transport of the endless channel conveyor (41). When the pack (20) enters a pack channel (31), a label (26) may be held ready which is folded round the forwardly pointing end face (23) of the pack (20) in a U-shaped manner by the insertion into the pack channel (31).
Abstract:
A novel apparatus is provided for inspecting defects in cigarette bundles layered in buckets which are fixed to a bucket conveyor. The defects include tip fall state where the top content of cigarette piece is dropped off, loss of filter and shortage in the number of cigarette pieces. The apparatus consists of a gate time measuring device, a dark time measuring device, a computing device and a comparison device. The gate time measuring device measures gate time showing the passing time of the internal length of buckets, and the dark time measuring device measures dark time showing the passing time of a defective part of cigarette and of spaces between cigarette pieces. The computing device selects the maximum value of the dark time and computes a percentage of the gate time to the maximum value. The comparison device then compares the computed value with a predetermined value so as to determine whether or not there are defects in cigarette piece bundles.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for packing batches of cigarettes, in which batches B are transferred from a hopper 10 into compression boxes 16 of an intermittent conveyor 14, and are then packaged (e.g. in soft packs) while passing along continuous conveyors 22, 30 and 38. Compressed batches B are transferred into U-shaped foil wrappers F1 in compartments 28 of the conveyor 22, when folding flaps 88 fold over the two sides of the wrapper before the transfer is completed (FIG. 4). In a modification, the batches are formed from a continuous stream of cigarettes (FIGS. 8 and 9), and any voids V in the stream are filled by an intermittent acceleration rotor 350 (FIG. 11).
Abstract:
There is provided a method of and apparatus for packing rod-shaped articles, especially cigarettes. A rotatable turret is used, into which blanks are introduced into pockets of the turret, with partial folding of the blanks, whereafter groups of articles are axially introduced into the blanks in pockets, the article groups being introduced alternately from opposite sides of the turret. There is also provided an apparatus whereby article groups can be ejected alternately on both sides of a magazine and also an apparatus wherein, to form article groups from three article rows or layers, the middle row containing fewer cigarettes than the top and bottom rows, a lateral chute wall of the magazine terminates above the region of the cigarette groups to be ejected, merely articles of the top and bottom rows being ejectable in this region via a recess in the entraining member associated with the lateral chute, such recess being at the height of the middle cigarette row.

Abstract:
A machine for packing cigarettes in which packets, having one open end, are made by successively wrapping an inner layer of foil and an outer layer of paper round a former, transferring the open ended packets into a pocket on a conveyor, and then inserting a batch of twenty cigarettes into each packet. A plurality of packet-making devices, and batch-forming devices are provided, the conveyor being so positioned that each pocket first passes all the packet-making devices in succession and then all the batch-forming devices in succession.
Abstract:
An extraction station for the extraction from a transport system for an at least partially complete cartridge; the extraction station has: a collecting device; at least one holding head, which is designed to grab at least one end of the cartridge; and a moving device which supports the holding head and moves the holding head between a pick-up position, in which the holding head is in the area of the transport system and grabs the cartridge, and a release position, in which the holding head releases the cartridge.
Abstract:
A bead delivery disk, system and method of delivering flavor beads to a tobacco rod or tow including a bead source, a bead delivery disk in communication with the bead source, including a central disk portion having front and back sides and a first central thickness, an inner annular rim around the central disk portion, the inner annular rim having a second thickness less than said first thickness, a series of pockets spaced around the inner annular rim and multiple vacuum transmission apertures located on one side of the disk, each aperture communicating with at least one of the pockets.
Abstract:
A system for conveying electronic cigarette components, including: a guide including a stopping station; a carriage to slide along the guide; a retaining device for holding a component of an electronic cigarette; and a locking unit for locking the carriage relative to the guide at the stopping station. The locking unit includes: two abutment elements mounted on the carriage and disposed at a predetermined mutual distance; and an inserting element which is: disposed at the stopping station shaped such that first and second edges contact the abutment elements, respectively, when the carriage is at the stopping station; movable between a retracted position free from the abutment elements to allow the carriage to slide, and an advanced position contacting the abutment elements to prevent the carriage from sliding. Each abutment element is rotatable about its axis to facilitate movement of the inserting element between the two positions.
