    Abstract: The principles described herein provide floor tiles and modular floors. Some embodiments of the floor tiles and modular floors include multiple levels of support. One of the levels of support may be a resilient level that compresses comfortably under a load. Another level of support may include a generally rigid level that supports the floor or tile after the resilient level has compressed a predetermined distance. One embodiment includes a third generally rigid level of support that supports the floor or tile under certain loads. Some embodiments of the floor tiles include inserts for increased traction. The inserts may be removable and protrude from a top surface and/or a bottom plane of the floor tiles. The tiles may include a locking system that allows adjacent tiles to interlock, while also permitting a predetermined amount of lateral sliding relative to one another. The modular tiles may be injection molded and the inserts and the resilient support level may comprise an elastomer.

    Abstract: A modular cladding element cooperates with an assembly of cladding elements to clad a surface of an underlying structure. The cladding element includes a cladding panel having opposed inside and outside major surfaces, first and second opposed sides, and first and second opposed ends. A removable male fastener is integrally formed along the first side of the panel, and is adapted for entering a complementary fastener of an adjacent cladding element when positioned on the first side of the panel. The male fastener is removable in the absence of a complementary cladding element positioned on the first side of the panel. A first female fastener is integrally formed along the opposed second side of the panel, and defines a first opening adapted for receiving a complementary fastener of an adjacent cladding element positioned on the second side of the panel. A second female fastener is integrally formed adjacent the male fastener on the first side of the panel. Upon removing the male fastener, the second female fastener defines a second opening adapted for receiving a complementary fastener of an adjacent cladding element on the first side of the panel.

    Abstract: A paving stone that can be laid in one or more open patterns, permitting water to drain through areas in the formed ground cover, is provided. The stone has six interlocking multifaced side surfaces, three on a concave part of the stone and three on a convex part of the stone, that interlock with complimentary side surfaces of adjacent stones, and has eight corner side surfaces that bound and define the shape of drainage areas. Each of the drainage areas is surrounded by identical interlocking stones. In the preferred embodiment, the multifaced surfaces of each of the parts are identical so that the stones can be laid interchangeably at any place in a runner bond or herringbone pattern. The faces of the multifaced side surfaces of the stones are preferably planar and form V-shaped interlocking surfaces.
