A sliding resistance member (3) is interposed between a glove box (B) and a rod type air damper (21). It is assumed that when a glove box lid (L) corresponding to a open-close member starts opening, the rod type air damper (21) rotates while running idle in conjunction therewith, in a relation in which the rotary type oil damper (3) is positively interposed between the glove box (B) corresponding to the mounting shaft and the rod type air damper (21). However, since a braking force of the sliding resistance member (3) is applied to the side of the open-close member in a rotating section of the rod type air damper (21), an sufficient damper effect can be obtained even when the open-close member starts opening.

Disclosed is a hinge assembly for an automobile armrest for reducing or preventing noise during the opening/closing of the armrest and providing smooth opening/closing force using a damping force of gears. In the hinge assembly, a first body includes a first mounting plate, a pair of first rotating members, and a first fixed gear. A second body includes a second mounting plate, a pair of second rotating members, and a second fixed gear. Hinge shaft is coaxially aligned to the first and second fixed gears at lower ends of the first rotating member of the first body and the second rotating member of the second body. A pair of springs is wound around both outer surfaces of the hinge shaft and provides a resilient force to the first and second bodies. A support plate is mounted at a rear space of a second stage tray.

In an arrangement for damping the pivot movement of a furniture component which is supported by a pivot joint on a stationary furniture part and which includes a damping element for slowing the movement of the furniture component near one of its end positions, the damping element includes a cylinder and piston unit forming part of a hinge, which includes a hinge housing in which a piston operating member is slidably supported and operatively connected to the piston, and a hinge lever extends between the movable component and the stationary furniture part in such a way that it engages the piston operating member in the hinge housing when the movable component approaches one of its end positions so as to slow down the movable component.

In an original pressing plate hinge including a fixing member, an original pressing plate supporting member pivotably installed via a hinge pin to the fixing member, a slider slidably housed in the supporting member, a cam member fixed between the slider and the free end of the supporting member in contact with the slider, and a coil spring provided resiliently between the slider and the free end of the supporting member, the cam member is omitted to prevent an original or document set on the platen glass for copying or printing from being stained with or spoiled by a lubricant when the original touches the cam member to which the lubricant sticks, and instead a pressure receiving pin is used and a cam slider is used in place of the slider. To prevent a heavy original pressing plate from abruptly falling, a fluid damping member is housed in the coil spring and disposed between the cam slider and the top plate or free end of the supporting member.

A damping mechanism for an opening and closing member that opens and closes an opening while changing a center of rotation has an arm with damped rotational speed to support a shaft part of the opening and closing member. A position of the shaft part with respect to the arm is changed along with the opening and closing operation of the opening and closing member by a guide member. The arm is urged toward an opening direction of the opening and closing member by a forcing member, and the opening and closing member is maintained in a closed state against the force of the forcing member by a locking member.

A multi-function door stop is provided comprising a first vertical plate for mounting to a wall and a second horizontal plate affixed to and extending outwardly from the first plate. A hollow elongated tube extends outwardly in a direction away from the second plate in a normal position substantially perpendicular to the first plate. An extension member is interposed between the second plate and the elongated tube, the extension member being fixedly secured at one end to the second plate. The elongated tube is pivotally connected to the other end of the extension member permitting adjustment of the tube to a ninety degree impact with the door. A means is associated with the extension member for releasably locking the tube in its normal position. In use, the door stop remains in its normal position until the elongated tube is struck by an object, such as a vacuum cleaner or mop. The impact releases the tube from its locked position and allows it to swing about its pivot point to an out of the way position substantially parallel to the wall.

An Overhead Doorstop Shock Absorbing Device for Freight Truck Doors as shown in FIG. 1 performs as follows. The overhead door is opened and moves upward until it meets the Overhead Doorstop Shock Absorbing Device, which then absorbs the energy through its springs, thus preventing the overhead door from overextending. This absorption of energy minimizes wear and reduces damage to springs, cables and rollers in current state of the art overhead door assembly systems. This greatly increases financial savings by reducing part consumption, labor costs and downtime. Due to the high usage of current state of the art overhead doors in freight trucks, problems will continue for the users. By the addition of the Overhead Doorstop Shock Absorbing Device, repairs are minimized and costs are reduced due to the ability of the device to absorb the energy that would otherwise damage the current state of the art overhead door systems.

The buffer device (10) has a body (11) which can be fitted in a rail (4), a damping element (12) for cushioning, and a retaining spring (13) for retaining a running mechanism (6) which is guided in the rail (4) and is provided for carrying and guiding slidable wing elements (2). The at least approximately U-profile-shaped body (11) of the buffer device (10), which body is punched and bent from a metal element, has a first and a second wing (14; 18), which wings are connected to each other by a central piece (20) whose tongue-shaped extension forms the retaining spring (13) serving to retain the running mechanism (6). The end pieces (17, 19, 26; 17*, 19*) of the wings (14; 18) are configured in such a manner that they are suitable for retaining the damping element (12). The buffer device (10) can be manufactured cost-effectively from a single metal plate and can be completed by a damping element (12). Since the retaining spring (13) is a component part of the body (11) of the buffer device (10), the device is highly stable.
