    Abstract: A canopy garage door opener including a mechanism for interconnecting a horizontal, rectilinear reciprocating carriage drive means to a canopy door having a first axis fixed to the door and movable vertically in a guide means and a pair of crank arms pivoted at the top of a door opening and to a horizontal axis fixed with respect to the door. The mechanism includes a lever pivoted to the carriage forming part of a quadrangular link assembly pivoted to the door at one apex and connected by another link to the door from an adjacent apex. Guard means including fixed and movable plates are disposed on both sides of the mechanism to shield it, the movable plates being pivotally connected to the mechanism and being rotated by a cam and follower connection to the fixed plates.

    Abstract: A balancing device consists of at least one balancer, for example a pneumatic jack, one end of which is connected to the deck lid by a swivel joint and whose other end is hinged to the vehicle body. The balancer is hinged to the vehicle body through a bent return lever consisting of two unequal arms and is attached at its bend to the vehicle body about an axis parallel to the hinge axis of the hatchback. The end of the arm oriented toward the axis forms a hinge for the said other end of the balancer while the end of the other arm of the bent lever is in contact with the concave cam surface of a cam attached to the deck lid.

    Abstract: An automatic surface bolt for doors swinging in pairs having a stop to hold the active door open until the inactive door is closed and a top bolt which is actuated by movement of the stop to lock the inactive door as the active door completes its closing movement, the inactive door having also a bottom bolt arranged to be actuated by the top bolt so that the door is bolted top and bottom when both doors are closed; both bolts holding the inactive door are automatically released when the active door is opened.
