摘要： A measuring tape is provided for quick determination of the center of a distance without requiring the calculation of the distance. The measuring tape includes two parallel edges and an ascending measuring scale along each edge printed on the same face of the tape and beginning at the same end of the tape. One of the scales has units calibrated to a conventional unit of length measurement. The second measuring scale has units calibrated to be exactly half the unit of the first scale.

摘要： A masons scale for use in laying courses of brick, adapted to allow a mason to calculate appropriate mortar thicknesses between rows of bricks when constructing a brick wall, so as to evenly space the rows of bricks in such wall. Such scale consists of a plurality of groups of mutually adjacent, individually colored bands arranged along a substantially elongate, flat surface, each group spaced a progressively decreasing distance apart from the next group progressing from bottom to top of the scale, the midpoint of each colored band spaced a uniform distance from the midpoint of a correspondingly colored band in an adjacent group of colored bands. A masonry guide incorporating such scale is also provided, further comprising an elongate post member, and bracket means affixed at each end of the post member, to allow the masonry guide and the associated scale to be affixed to the side of a structure in a vertically upright position.

摘要： A fastening apparatus for a measuring device including a bending resistant scale comprises a plurality of resilient fastening elements for mounting the scale to a support surface. 摘要： An optical device for measuring the angles formed between a line-of-sight and the normal to a planar surface intersected thereby. A solid piece of optically transparent material having a relatively large index of refraction is geometrically shaped to have a planar base surface, with a reference mark theron, and a curvilinear viewing surface with scale marks to designate angular orientations. The exterior surfaces are optically polished to create mirrored surfaces for internal reflection. To accentuate contrast, the planar surface containing the reference mark is coated with a layer of contrasting opaque material. Angles are measured by placing the planar base surface of the device on the planar surface intersected by the line-of-sight and aligning the reference mark with the point of intersection. When viewed from the observation point defining the line-of-sight, an image of the reference mark appears on the scaled surface at a location representing the line-of-sight angle.
