摘要: A method of determining electric discharge machining conditions comprises the steps of establishing multiple sets of predefined machining parameters, establishing for each set of predefined machining parameters a set of basic machining data indicating relationships present during electric discharge machining among electric discharge machining current, machining depth and minimum electrode side surface undersize, selecting at least two sets of basic machining data from among the multiple sets thereof in accordance with a given set of predefined machining parameters, and inferring and thereupon generating machining condition data representing a series of pairs of values comprising machining depth values and corresponding electric discharge machining current values for machining the workpiece to a prescribed configuration and prescribed dimensions, the electric discharge machining current values in the series progressively changes with increasing machining depth value from a value larger than the electric discharge machining current of the selected set of basic machining data to a value smaller than the electric discharge machining current of the selected set of basic machining data.

摘要: A method of displaying a figure on the screen of a CRT of an NC system so that an operator can easily confirm whether or not a machining locus which is formed by a machining path of a wire electrode in a wire cut electric discharge machining apparatus during an operation of machining a workpiece to he machined according to an NC program, includes a closed loop machining path. The closed loop may cause undesired deformation of the workpiece finally machined. With such an NC controlled machining system, an accurate correction for the machining locus can be accomplished with ease, and therefore the machining apparatus is high in reliability and operability.

摘要: A wire cutting electric discharge machine having a first and second group of expendable components, the first group of components being continuously used during machining including the upper and lower wire guides, the upper and lower wire feeders, the filter, and the ion exchange resin of the ion exchanger. The second group of expendable components includes a cutter for wire cutting, and the conveyor belts. At the end of a process involving cutting of the wire and wire extension, the cumulative frequency of use is compared to determine whether the life of the first group of components has terminated. At the end of machining, the CPU compares the working period of each of the second group of components obtained by adding the electric discharge machining time to the cumulative working period before the start of the machining, with an allowable working period read from a management table, to determine whether the life of each component in the second group has terminated. The CPU turns on LEDs which correspond to the exhausted component and that a first or second tanks of a machining fluid supplying device whose water level is lowered, thereby giving an alarm.

摘要: A machining time estimating device for schedule control in an electric discharge machining operation, which is capable of estimating a machining period of time with high accuracy. With such an estimating device, an ideal machining period of time which has been determined according to machining conditions, is modified (since the actual machining procedure does not conform to the ideal conditions) in view of a variety of machining states and the machining conditions to achieve correction estimation. The machining states data includes data representing an area of a workpiece to be machined, a volume of the workpiece to be machined, a machining solution supplying method, and a configuration of the electrode to be used to machine the workpiece.

摘要: There is disclosed a method for machining multiple holes in a workpiece to a uniform depth and at a predetermined angle to the surface of the workpiece. The method is performed by a numerically controlled machine tool which orients the workpiece in space with respect to a reference coordinate system which establishes an expected position of the surface of the workpiece. The actual position of the surface of the workpiece is determined by sensing contact between the workpiece and the boring tool. Once the actual position of the workpiece surface has been sensed, the tool is advanced a predetermined distance to provide a uniform depth cut. The expected position, the actual position, and the deviation between the two are recorded to assure that the surface of the workpiece is accurately sensed during subsequent machining steps. In order to minimize false premature sensing of the workpiece, the surface of the workpiece is coated with a nonconductive enamel, air is blown across the surface of the workpiece to remove debris, and an insulating liquid coolant/lubricant is used during the drilling of the workpiece.

摘要: A wire-cut electroerosion machining method and apparatus in which the rate of axial travel of the electrode wire is temporarily increased immediately upon a change by the electrode wire of its course at a corner in a prescribed cutting path. The axial travel rate is preferably increased as a function of the angle of intersection defining the corner. Also, the time period in which the wire axial travel rate is increased should advantageously be varied as a function of, e.g. in inverse proportion to, the angle of intersection defining the corner.

摘要: A method and apparatus for restoring a broken wire electrode in a wire electrode-type electric discharge machine for machining a workpiece into a desired shape while the workpiece is moved relative to the wire electrode on the basis of machining command data. For effecting the restoration of the wire electrode, memory means are provided for storing the relative machining starting position of the workpiece and the wire electrode at the machining starting point, and the relative wire electrode breakage position of the workpiece and the wire electrode when the wire electrode breaks. After the wire electrode breaks the relative position of the workpiece and the wire electrode is brought into coincidence with the machining starting position on the basis of information indicative of the machining starting position and the wire electrode breakage position. After the wire electrode is returned to a feed system therefor, the workpiece is again moved relative to the wire electrode from the machining starting point on the basis of the machine command data. The relative position of the workpiece and the wire electrode is made to coincide with the wire electrode breakage position, after which the discharge machining operation is resumed.
