Abstract: An apparatus is set forth for use by undersea divers and the like wherein an elongate, hollow handled tool comprises a rear cap mounted to the tube with a flexible polymeric handle directed through the cap. A forward end of the tool includes a threaded enclosure member containing a threaded aperture for mountingly receiving a threaded boss of one of a series of implements selectively securable to the tool for various use under water, such as a spike, a chisel, a shovel, and a rake. A pouch member is utilized for securement of the tools and worn by an individual during use of the organization. Optionally, a replaceable chemical glow tube may be positioned interiorly of the tube, wherein the tube may be formed of a translucent material to enable visual orientation of the tube under water. Furthermore, a grip member may be selectively securably by use of hook and loop fastener strips about the tube or optionally, the grip member may be moulded to the tube.

Abstract: An integrated custom underwater diving system including backpack, weight system, bouyancy compensator, and equipment bag. The backpack has adjustable shoulder supports for conforming to the shape of the shoulders and torso of a diver and an integral weight system having a quick-release mechanism. The equipment bag has a plurality of compartments for storing and safely transporting diving equipment, the back and ends of which are provided with a semi-rigid sheath for protecting the contents of the bag during shipping, and compartments along the sides thereof for receiving diving fins which provide protection along the sides of the bag during shipment. The backpack is designed for removably mounting on the front of the equipment bag such that the backpack provides protection to the front of the bag during shipping and handling. The equipment bag is also provided with straps which allow the bag to be carried on the backpack to and from dive sites. The buoyancy compensator of the present invention is removably mounted to the backpack for diving, and is in the shape of an elongated inverted "U" designed for two configurations of use. In the standard front position, the ends of the buoyancy compensator are buckled in front of the diver's torso. That configuration permits an easy face-down supine swimming position with minimum restriction to the diver's movements. That configuration also allows the diver to float head-up on the surface of the water. In the optional back position, the ends of the buoyancy compensator are buckled behind the diver's torso. That configuration further facilitates a supine swimming position with little or no obstruction in front of the diver and further provides a streamlined profile reducing the amount of effort necessary for swimming.

Abstract: A buoyancy compensator insertable backpack is disclosed herein in the form of a configured insert having an inverted T conformation. The inverted T conformation has an upright portion with ribs thereon which provide rigidity to the upright and includes at least one set of slits therethrough in order to secure a breathing gas tank by a metal band passing therethrough and around the tank. The lower or transverse portion of the inverted T shaped backpack is curved to follow the contour of a person's torso so that support can be provided to the upright portion by having a load distributed across a person's torso in the pelvis, small area of the back, or hip area. The entire insertable backpack is implaced with a buoyancy compensator so as to provide for support of a breathing gas tank on the backpack within the buoyancy compensator, all of which are secured on a user's body for providing buoyancy compensation and attendant support of a breathing gas tank.

Abstract: A divers weight belt formed from a single piece of laminated material having closed cell foam neoprene covered on each side with stretchable fabric. A plurality of rectangular pockets are formed along the belt to hold standard rectangular led diving weights. An upward extending flap of the material is provided with Velcro.RTM. closure material and the outer surfaces of the pockets provided with mating Velcro.RTM. closure material to permit closing of the pockets. Two ends of the belt project from the pockets and are provided with Velcro.RTM. closure material. The diver places a belt with desired weights inserted in the pockets around his waist with the pocket flap contacting his weight and closes the belt by engaging the Velcro.RTM. ends. In an emergency, the belt can be quickly dropped by ripping the ends apart.
