Abstract:
A lever system deploys a pinion gear that engages a pinion gear receiving portion. A handle is attached to the pinion gear to rotate the pinion gear between a retain position and a release position. The pinion gear receiving portion is attached to a first object and the pinion gear is pivotably mounted to a second object that may be moved with respect to the first object. The design of the pinion gear receiving portion and the pinion gear ensure linear travel of the second object as the pinion gear is rotated between the retain position and the release position. Additionally, the pinion gear and the receiving portion include contours that prevent relative linear motion in all directions.
Abstract:
An indicator is provided for engaging a first control cable connected to a first bicycle shift control device and for engaging a second control cable connected to a second bicycle shift control device. The indicator includes a housing; a handlebar attachment member for attaching the housing to a handlebar; a first intermediate member; a first coupling member coupled to the first intermediate member for coupling the first intermediate member for movement with the first control cable; and a separate first indicating member viewable from outside the housing, wherein the first indicating member engages the first intermediate member so that movement of the first intermediate member causes movement of the first indicating member. The indicator also includes a second intermediate member; a second coupling member coupled to the second intermediate member for coupling the second intermediate member for movement with the second control cable; and a separate second indicating member viewable from outside the housing, wherein the second indicating member engages the second intermediate member so that movement of the second intermediate member along the guide surface causes movement of the second indicating member. A first biasing mechanism is provided for biasing the first intermediate member in a first direction, and a second biasing mechanism is provided for biasing the second intermediate member in a second direction. The first direction may be different from the second direction to accommodate control cables that do not move in the same direction.
Abstract:
An electric power steering unit comprises a rack-shaft 2 to be coupled to the guiding wheels of a vehicle, a housing A for slidably containing the rack-shaft 2 and holding therein a coupling section 6 for causing the teeth of the rack-shaft 2 to engage those of a pinion arranged on the steering column 5 linked to the steering handle of the vehicle and an electric motor 1 coaxially arranged around the rack-shaft 2, which the rotary force is transmitted to the rack-shaft 2 by way of a ball screw mechanism 3 as the steering assisting power. A nut section 19 of the ball-screw mechanism 3 is rotatably supported by a housing B separately formed from the housing A, in a state of supporting the armature shaft 11 of the electric motor 1. The rack-shaft 2 is axially movable and supported by two points of support, one at the coupling section and the other at the nut section supported by the housing B. Thus, the rack-shaft is not supported by three points such as the conventional power steering unit but supported by two points, the precision requirements for the components are eased and hence the manufacturing cost thereof is reduced.
Abstract:
A device for guiding, driving, and locking a slot-in module of electrical or electronic equipment in a cabinet, wherein the circuits of the slot-in module are connected to those of the cabinet by coupling the connectors of the slot-in module to those of the cabinet or a rack in the cabinet, wherein the cabinet is secured to a slide with which a slideway secured to the slot-in module can engage, wherein a system of pinions and of racks cause their relative travel under the action of a rotary control member in a manner such that, at the end of travel, an input pinion is automatically blocked by a spring that can be unblocked from the outside.
Abstract:
An ejection apparatus for dispensing an item from a stack of items, for example, in a vending machine, includes an ejector member mounted for reciprocal movement. A movable member is connected to the ejector member and can be relatively rigid when transmitting force to the ejector member during an ejection stroke but can be bent during a return stroke to enable a compact storage configuration. A tube member can receive the movable member and bend it during its return stroke.
Abstract:
An apparatus for axially adjusting a bottom work roll of a plug mill to align the grooves of the top and bottom rolls. The apparatus includes a bottom roll chock having a pair of laterally extending members, each carrying a transverse, tapered wing shaped end portion. A pair of spaced apart adjustment assemblies are mounted on the plug mill housing adjacent the lower roll chock. A pair of tapered wedges is carried by each of the adjustment assemblies. The wedges are adapted to slideably engage and move the tapered wing shaped portions of the lower roll chock. A segmented tie bar having a manually rotatable turnbuckle is rigidly attached to lever arms carried by the adjustment assemblies. Rotation of the turnbuckle, which carries conventional left hand and right hand threads, causes identical outward or inward movement of the tie bar segments and lever arms which, in turn, causes like rotative movement of a gear train positioned within the adjustment assemblies resulting in opposite sliding movement of the pairs of tapered wedges. The movement of the tapered wedges against the tapered wing shaped portions of the roll chock causes selective inward or outward movement of the roll chock and axial movement of the bottom work roll.
Abstract:
A pneumatic actuator including a first housing having a first cylinder formed therein, a first piston slidably positioned within the cylinder of the first housing, a first rack connected to the first piston and extending therefrom, a second housing having a second cylinder formed therein, a second piston slidably positioned within the second cylinder of the second housing, a second rack connected to the second piston and extending therefrom, and a pinion engaging the first and second rack and rotatable relative to a movement of the first and second racks. The first piston has a center axis aligned with a point of contact between the first rack and the pinion. The second piston has a center axis aligned with a point of contact between the second rack and the pinion. Each rack is supported against the pinion by a pin supported by support members arranged transverse to the axis of the pinion.
Abstract:
Fastening apparatus for detachably fastening a removable roof section to a vehicle body includes an elongated locking device on the roof section movable between a roof-lock position in which the locking device locks the roof section to the vehicle body and a roof-unlock position in which the locking device unlocks the roof section from the vehicle body. A bow-shaped handle has two end parts, and a rotatable device rotatably connects one end part of the handle with the locking device such that the handle is rotatable between a handle-lock position to dispose the locking device in the roof-lock position and a handle-unlock position to dispose the locking device in the roof-unlock position. A connecting device is disposed between the other end part of the handle and the connecting link, the disconnectable connecting device having a connect position which connects the other end part of the handle and a rotatable connecting link. The disconnectable connecting device has a disconnect position which disconnects the other end part of the handle from the connecting link such that the other end part of the handle is separated from the roof section to thereby enable the one end part of the handle to be rotated by the rotatable device between the handle-lock position and the handle-unlock position.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a flexible robot arm comprising a plurality of disc-shaped elements arranged in a series so as to consist of a flexible arm, both surfaces of each of the elements being formed in convex having an arched opposed single curve so as to form contact surfaces, and a plurality of wire-like actuating devices for allowing the flexible arm to curve or bend in a desired direction. The flexible robot arm of this invention is directed to make motors for driving the actuating devices compact in size and light in weight and also a drive unit section compact in size and light in weight. The flexible robot arm includes two drive units each interconnected to the proximal ends of respective pairs of actuating devices (e.g. 3a and 3c, and 3b and 3d) disposed oppositely to each other on the diagonal and driven through rotary members (5a, 5b, 9a, 9b or 12a, 12b, 12c, 12d) each being rotated by one of the motors (8a, 8 b) in both the clockwise and the anti-clockwise directions.
