Abstract: A method of using a reconfigurable pet enrichment system to help pets fulfill their natural behaviors is provided. The system can be arranged to facilitate an environment that helps stimulate, entertain, and exercise a pet, and also provides a defensible space for napping, resting, or sleeping. The system can be constructed from two pieces of pliable material: a base component and a top-covering component attached to the base component by means of semi-permanent fasteners to create a variety of forms such as ripples, nooks and tunnels. The top component can contain several openings of different sizes. Openings appeal to a pet's predatory nature, as the openings provide a source of stimulation and interaction. The system may also be configured with a plurality of members attached via semi-permanent fasteners.

Abstract: Implementations directed to providing a computer-implemented method comprising receiving, from a motion sensing device, a plurality of image frames that includes information regarding a plurality of animals housed in a group-housed environment, determining a coordinate space of the group-housed environment based on an analysis of a first image frame of the image frames, generating, based on the analysis of the first image frame, an ellipsoid model for each animal based on defined surface points for each animal weighted according to a likely proximity to a crest of a spine of the respective animal, and tracking a position and an orientation of each animal within the image frames by enforcing shape consistency of the ellipsoid models, and adjusting the position of each of the ellipsoid models based on the defined surface points for each animal and a maximum likelihood formulation of a movement distance for each animal.

Abstract: The field of this invention is recording motion of an animal, uniquely identifying the animal, and recording an activity of that animal. Motions of animals on a path when the animal is or can be uniquely identified are tracklets. Tracklets begin and end at ambiguation events, where these are defined as locations and times of an animal where it cannot be uniquely identified. A first animal may be uniquely identified by first identifying all other animals in the first animal's environment. Animal identification may be after the end of a tracklet. Embodiments use optical flow analysis from video of an animal's environment. Embodiments record an animal's activity on tracklets and then use that activity to measure animal health or use that activity as data for a study using animals.

Abstract: The present invention provides an extendible enclosure, having a first frame member supporting a first mesh canopy and a second frame member supporting a second mesh canopy.
