In the process of the invention for producing concrete components, carbon fibers which have been prestressed by means of tensile stress or tensile-stressable fibers of at least one textile structure comprising carbon fibers are embedded in a concrete matrix. At least one textile structure comprising carbon fiber bundles is laid in a mold. The carbon fiber bundles are inserted, in each case at a distance from one another, into two accommodation elements which are arranged at two diametrical end faces of the mold and can be connected on the end walls of the mold or thereto through openings so that hollow spaces within the accommodation element are filled with a rapid-curing viscous composition having a mineral basis or a rapid-curing polymer. After curing of the composition or of the polymer, tensile forces act on one or both accommodation element(s) in the longitudinal direction of the carbon fiber bundles at at least one end face by means of a tensioning device. While the tensile forces are acting, the interior of the mold is subsequently filled completely with viscous concrete. After curing of the concrete, the tensile forces on the prestressed carbon fiber bundles are largely transferred to the cured concrete and the concrete component can then be removed from the mold.

Prestressed concrete railroad ties are formed in molds which are supported by existing track near the area where they are to be installed. Each mold will form a number of ties. Reinforcement strands are located within a plurality of longitudinally spaced molds. Concrete is then poured into the molds and the ties are formed bottoms up in the molds. A group of ties are simulatenously removed from a given mold by a special extractor which first simultaneously clamps the reinforcing strands extending outwardly from a given mold, and then lifts the strands as a group from the mold by a suitable crane. Preferably the center of gravity of ties is spaced from a pivot point which will cause 180.degree. rotation locating the ties in upright position to be loaded on a railway car or other vehicle to take them to the site where they are to be installed. A method of manufacturing railway switch-point concrete sleeper blocks of varying lengths and having different number of attachment means located in mutually different positions for the attachment of rails. A plurality of steel matrix plates 102 whose respective lengths correspond to the desired lengths of the various sleeper blocks and which exhibit detachably mounted dowels 109 are placed end to end in an elongate mould bed with the dowels facing upwardly, whereafter reinforcing lines rods 5 are tensioned and concrete is poured into the mould bed and permitted to harden. The thus formed coherent concrete body is then removed from the mould and the matrix plates removed with the dowels remaining cast in the concrete block. The concrete body is then cut into sleeper blocks of desired length. The dowels are accurately mounted in predetermined positions in frame members affixed to the matrix plates. Upon casting and hardening of the sleeper blocks the frame members are disengaged from the plates and the in-cast dowels for renewed use in a subsequent casting operation.

Prefabricated prestressed concrete members are formed on a stressing bed with a number of working stations arranged next to one another along the length of the bed. A frame froms the working stations and the frame is movable over the stressing bed. With a previously poured concrete member in one of the working stations, part of a form is placed in another working station and is filled with concrete. After the form part is completely filled and consolidated, a second form part is placed downwardly on the filled part completing the form. A lifting member on the frame which placed the second form part on the filled part is then moved to the station containing the previously poured member which is still within the form. The form is stripped from the concrete member and the frame is then moved along with the lifting member returning the stripped form to the working station where it is to be filled with concrete. After the stripped form is moved the second form part is separated from the part to be filled with concrete and is moved into another working station where it is cleaned and readied for the next working cycle.

A concrete post molding device is disclosed for simultaneously forming a plurality of uniform, reinforced concrete posts. The device includes a housing containing an annular chamber defined by a fixed horizontal first plate having a central cylindrical pipe and a spaced concentrically arranged sleeve vertically supported thereon. A plurality of circumferentially spaced radial fin members are connected with the pipe for dividing the chamber into a plurality of circumferentially arranged vertical compartments, and the first plate contains a plurality of openings arranged opposite the compartments. The concrete post molding device is characterized by novel reinforcing rod suspension and tensioning apparatus. An annular ring is connected with the upper portion of the pipe and includes a plurality of first chucks for gripping the upper portions of the reinforcing rods. The lower portions of the rods are suspended in spaced relation in the compartments and extend vertically through the first plate openings. The lower portions of the rods are clamped to a second horizontal plate arranged beneath the first plate, and the second plate is displaced downwardly relative to the first plate to tension the rods. When concrete is delivered to the compartments, a plurality of reinforced concrete posts are cast simultaneously.
