摘要: A sheet transport apparatus includes a device for generating an electrostatic attraction force for attracting a sheet member to a surface of a transport belt disposed close to another surface of the transport belt opposite to the surface that contacts the sheet member. The apparatus is arranged to reduce a drive load on the transport belt caused by the electrostatic attraction force. To achieve this effect, at least one of a surface of the electrostatic attraction force generating device contacting the transport belt and a surface of the transport belt contacting the electrostatic attraction force generating device is roughened. Alternatively, an electrostatic attraction force generated at at least one particular portion of the transport belt by the electrostatic attraction force generating device is smaller than an electrostatic attraction force generated at another portion of the transport belt.

摘要: An ink jet printer has a sheet conveying and drying device having a plurality of flexible, resilient yet stiff fingers connected in a cantilevered manner to a drive chain which moves the fingers from a printed sheet receiving tray to a sheet stacking tray. After sheets are printed by a conventional ink jet printing head, the sheets are picked off of the printed sheet receiving tray and fed to a sheet stacking tray. The printed sheets are dried while being fed from the printed sheet receiving tray to the sheet stacking tray. After the printed sheets are picked off of the fingers at the sheet stacking tray, the chain drive continues to move the fingers in a counterclockwise direction along the chain path. The resilient, flexible fingers are deformed by upper and lower guide rollers, a stacking tray and a rear separating wall and are flicked back into a sheet receiving position at the printed sheet receiving tray. The speed at which the chain drive moves the fingers can be varied to ensure that the images are dried by the time they reach the sheet stacking tray.

摘要: A xerographic printer or digital copier has an intermediate belt for transferring images from several photoreceptive drums to sheets of paper. The intermediate belt experiences undesired stretching and shrinking which results in the size of the transferred image being distorted and the colors of the transferred image being misregistered. The printer is provided with a plurality of drag inducing members preferably in the form of drag rollers or skid plates which minimize the stretching and shrinking of the intermediate belt by counteracting the belt distorting forces. The magnitude of the drag forces to be applied by each of the drag inducing members can be calculated and the position of each of the drag inducing members can be adjusted according to each of the calculated drag forces.

摘要: In a printer in which a plurality of holes to be filled with ink are formed in an ink film, selectively heating ink generates bubbles from the holes and ejects ink due to the pressure of bubbles, thus printing an image on a sheet. The printer includes a conveying mechanism for conveying the ink film and shut conveying unit for conveying the sheet to a position facing the heating elements through the ink film. The conveying mechanism feeds the ink film at a speed lower than a sheet conveying speed.

摘要: A matrix printing apparatus of the type having a path for sequentially transporting a series of documents to be printed between a plurality of dot matrix ballistic print heads and back-up platen rollers opposite each print head, the dot matrix ballistic print heads adapted, when actuated, to simultaneously impact an ink source and one side of each document as each document passes the print heads to apply printed material to each document in a pre-programmed array. The improvement of the present invention comprises moving the back-up platen rollers from a first position adjacent the print head when the print head is actuated, to a second position at a distance from the print head when the print head is not actuated. The matrix printing apparatus also includes an ink source comprising an endless inked ribbon which continually moves between the dot matrix ballistic print heads and the document path, and includes an ink guard disposed between the inked ribbon and the document path, the ink guard having relatively small apertures therein adjacent each print head wherein only the portion of the ribbon adjacent each print head extends through each corresponding aperture and contacts each document during application of printed material to each document.

摘要: The inkjet recording apparatus includes a recording head, a recording medium conveyance part, an abnormality detection part, a retraction mechanism, and a controller. The retraction mechanism makes the recording head moved between a recording position and a retraction position. The controller being enabled to execute a flashing operation under a non-image recording situation, on condition that an abnormality of the recording medium has been detected by the abnormality detection part, the controller halts the flashing operation set for a forward proximity of the abnormality-detected recording medium, and moreover instructs the retraction mechanism to move the recording head to the retraction position so as to allow the abnormality-detected recording medium to pass through under the recording head.
