摘要: A transport and alignment system is provided for handling stacked sheet material on a support deck including first and second belts each having a portion thereof disposed parallel to the support deck. Each of the belts includes a plurality of spaced-apart fingers which engage the edges of the stacked sheet material and define a pocket therebetween. The transport and alignment system further includes a drive mechanism for independently driving the first and second belts to effect concurrent and relative motion of the fingers. Concurrent motion of the fingers transports the stacked sheet material along the support deck while relative motion of the fingers opposed edges of the stacked sheets of material. The transport and alignment system is described in the context of a stitcher and chassis module of a mailpiece inserter.

摘要: A device for stacking flat, deformable, items contains a transfer device that accommodates individual items conveyed to it in receptacles and conveys them to a serializing device. At that transfer device, a row of compartments, into which the items are inserted, is conveyed transversely to the direction along which items' arrive. During insertion, items receive a velocity component in the compartments' direction of motion, while being brought to a standstill along their original direction of motion by one or the other of their flat sides coming into contact with a compartment wall, or an item that had been previously inserted into the compartment, in order that the compressive forces, and thus the deforming forces, exerted on the items will be slight.

摘要: A method for feeding blanks (2) to a boxing machine (AS), includes picking up, one by one, groups (20) of blanks (2) in flat configuration from a support surface and transporting, one by one, the groups (20) to a line (1) for continuously feeding the blanks (2) to the boxing machine (AS) in a predetermined forward movement direction (A). The transport step includes releasing each group (20) of blanks (2) between two adjacent prongs (13) defining a pocket (V) of a horizontal pocket conveyor (10, 11) of the feeding line (1). The releasing is performed by depositing the group (20) onto receiving and supporting means (23), which move from and to the conveyor (10, 11), in a direction crosswise to the forward movement direction (A), between a position, in which the receiving and support means (23) are slightly raised with respect to the surface (P), defined by the feeding line (1), and a position, in which the receiving and support means (23) are slightly lowered with respect to the surface (P), and a subsequent moving of the receiving and support means (23) from the raised position to the lowered position.

摘要: An apparatus for forming and conveying stacks of documents includes a stacking machine positioned above a conveying machine. The stacking machine includes a compartment for receiving documents to be stacked. Two rotor assemblies are rotated in opposite directions to repeatedly define a closed configuration in which the documents are stacked within the compartment, and an open configuration in which a stack is dropped from the rotor assemblies to the conveying machine. The conveying machine includes a support surface upon which the stacks are sequentially dropped, and a pusher assembly for moving the stacks along the support surface. The pusher assembly includes two chain assemblies that travel around similar yet offset travel paths and carry multiple pusher bars. Each pusher bar is pivotally connected to both chain assemblies such that the pusher bars define a continuous pusher travel path, and the pusher bars remain generally upright around the entire pusher travel path. In a sequential fashion, a portion of each of the pusher bars moves from below the support surface to above the support surface, and thereafter along and above the support surface to push a stack along the support surface. The rotor assemblies and pusher bars are driven by servomotors. The servomotors provide for rapid and intermittent movement of the rotor assemblies and pusher bars, so that the interaction therebetween can be optimized in a manner that permits the apparatus to be reliably operated at a high delivery speed.

摘要: Apparatus for automatically laying up veneer sheets for the manufacture of continuous veneer panels composed of a plurality of stacked sheets, optionally glued on their top face. The apparatus includes a frame, a conveyor for receiving the veneer sheets transversely and for successively feeding said veneer sheets in a timed manner into the apparatus, the conveyor having an alignment device for aligning the sheets and having lug members for pushing against the back transverse edge of each of said sheets, thereby urging said sheets forward. The conveyor running on a track having a upward trajectory portion and an inverted trajectory portion so that the sheets are gradually flipped top face down. The sheets are maintained against the conveyor by vacuum hoods mounted behind and between the conveyor. When reaching their inverted position, the sheets transfer onto a suction box having suction feet substantially straddling the inverted portion of the conveyor. The suction box is connected to a vacuum source and is movable up and down by an controllable stroke for sequentially depositing veneer sheets, stacking them in a predetermined order on a discharge conveyor.

摘要: A storage and stacking device for flat objects such as mail or newspapers cludes boxes for temporarily storing, transporting, and stacking the objects. Boxes are arranged on the stacking device at an angle of less than 90.degree. and coupled to a connecting element. The device has a fixed stack support associated with the boxes, and a movable stack support which is movable relative to the fixed stack support. The boxes and the fixed stack support are movable relative to one another. The boxes and the fixed stack support are formed by comb-like elements. The box comb-like elements comb through the fixed stack support comb-like elements during the relative motion of the box with respect to the fixed stack support. The box comb-like elements, the movable stack support and the fixed stack support are always in a positive contact with the stack of the objects.

摘要: A succession of pads such as disposable diapers, all folded in the same direction originally, are received in an oscillating conveyor which directs alternate pads into separate lanes. The first lane has orbiting paddles for receiving pads folded in their original direction and for inverting them to reverse their fold direction. A conveyor transports the inverted pads to a collection table. The second lane has cooperating conveyor belts for transporting pads, having their folded edges in the original orientation, to the collection table for being stacked on top of a coincidentally arriving inverted pad from the first lane.

摘要: The invention provides apparatus for separating portions of flat material cut-out from a web or sheet. First and second grippers respectively, which engage with first and second cut portions of flat material, are provided to travel along and define paths of motion for the first and second cut portions of flat material, which paths diverge from a point of separation. A feed conveyor is connected in front of the grippers and is synchronized with their drive.
