摘要: An optomechanical deflector for a line display unit (3) comprises ocular and objective functions (1, 6, 6a) and also a component or components for sweep-generation (2) and image turning. Each respective sweep-generating component (2) can be positioned at a distance (B) upwards and/or to the side of one or both eye(s) (7). By means of one or more first mirror surfaces (2a), the sweep-generating component reflects incoming radiation (4) from the line display unit (3) to one or more second mirror surface(s) (5a), which form(s) part of the objective function, on a component arranged in a rotationally fixed manner. Each respective second mirror surface in turn reflects radiation (4b) towards a mirror surface (6a) or mirror surfaces forming part of the ocular function, which reproduce(s) the respective first mirror surface for the pupil(s) (7a) of the eye(s). In an alternative embodiment, the sweep-generating component and the rotationally fixed component have changed places.

摘要: A stack of laminated transparent lenses consists of two alternating optically clear materials in intimate contact. The materials are a plastic lens and clear adhesive. The adhesive is uninterrupted. The lens and the adhesive have refraction mismatch of less than 0.2. A tab portion is part of each lens and acts as an aid in peeling away the outermost lens after contamination of the lens layer during racing conditions. The lens stack can be mounted to the posts on the face shield of a racing helmet or laminated directly to a windshield.

摘要: A segmented mirror with alternating reflective and transmissive surfaces and a refractive tilt place which laterally displaces two parallel beams are used as a beam spacer. A first beam is reflected by the segmented mirror and a second beam is transmitted by the segmented mirror. A third beam is refracted and laterally displaced by the tilt plate then reflected by the segmented mirror while a fourth beam is beam is refracted and laterally displaced by the tilt plate then transmitted by the segmented mirror. The segmented mirror and the refractive tilt plate closely space four parallel laser beams.

摘要: A visual display device is provided for delivering a generated image, preferably combinable with environment light, to the eye of a user. The device is lightweight and compact but yields a high quality image. In one embodiment, a shroud protects from stray light and holds optical elements in desired alignment. In one embodiment an image generator is masked by at least two masks to provide for a high quality image without waste. In one embodiment, a removably mounted shield or activatable device and convert the apparatus from a see-through device to an immersion device and back again. In one embodiment, the device can be comfortably mounted to the user's head while still allowing for use of conventional eyeglasses. A tracker for outputting an indication of the orientation, attitude and/or position of a head-mounted display (HMD) may be provided. The tracker can be configured so that it is incorporated in the HMD housing and/or can be easily decoupled from the HMD, so that the HMD can be used without the tracker (e.g. for watching movies). Preferably, decoupling involves unplugging a single electrical connector (such as a cable) and unfastening a mechanical connection (such as a strap). Preferably the tracker provides pass-through of signal to the HMD and, when the tracker is coupled to the HMD, only a single cable or other data link connects the HMD-tracker combination to the host computer. In one embodiment, the tracker uses magnetic sensors. In another embodiment, one or more inertial sensors, such as a rate gyro and/or accelerometers are used.

摘要: A head-up display for a vehicle, the display is capable of projecting an imaging illumination from an image source and a night vision display from a night vision source. The display utilizes a beam-splitter which receives the projected image illumination and night vision display and the beam-splitter directs a combined output to a mirror and a combiner for producing a virtual image in front of the eyes of a vehicle operator.

摘要: An image viewing apparatus has a stop for limiting light from an original image, and a viewing optical system for guiding the light from the original image, limited by the stop, to the eye of a viewer. The viewing optical system has a prism body including an entrance surface into which the light from the original image is incident, a reflecting surface for reflecting the incident light, and an exit surface from which the reflected light emerges. At least one of the entrance surface, reflecting surface, and exit surface is a curved surface, which is a rotationally asymmetric, aspherical surface. The apparatus satisfies the following condition: 3.5

摘要: Optical system for directing an auxiliary image towards an observer so as to be superimposed on to a main image. The optical system comprises a pentagonal prism having a first surface for intercepting the auxiliary image and directing an auxiliary image beam toward an opposing second surface so as to be internally reflected by the second surface towards a third surface so as to be internally reflected by the third surface and propagated out of the pentagonal prism through a fourth surface opposite the third surface towards the observer. At least one of the surfaces of the pentagonal prism is aspeheric and a directing optics constituted by a wedge proximate and external to the third surface directs a main image beam derived from the main image through the third surface into the pentagonal prism and out of the fourth surface thereof towards the observer.

摘要: A heat-treatable dichroic mirror, comprising a transparent substrate having a glass transition temperature in the range of 650-800° C., and a plurality of sputtered films carried on said substrate and forming at least two pairs of contiguous films in which the films of each pair have disparate refractive indices differing by at least about 0.2 so as to provide between them a reflective interface. The films include an oxide of a metal such as titanium, a second film comprising an oxidizable metal or semi-metal such as silicon, and a protective overcoat of a thickness and composition sufficient to substantially prevent permeation of oxygen therethrough when heat treated at said glass transition temperature. The mirror, after said heat treatment, exhibits a transmittance of at least 24% in the wavelength range of 550-650 nm, a reflectance of at least 45%, and a haze of not greater than about 1%.
