Abstract:
A self-aligning memory alloy wire actuator has a memory alloy wire having first and second ends with at least one terminal coupled to one end of the memory alloy wire. The terminal includes two wings and an extended piece connected in the shape of a T. The two wings are disposed on opposite sides of the extended piece and perpendicular to the extended piece. Each wing comprises top and bottom surfaces, a front surface, and an outside end. The top surfaces of the two wings lie on a common top plane and the front surfaces of the two wings lie on a common front plane. The memory alloy wire is coupled to the extended piece of the terminal.
Abstract:
A container for dispensing dosages of multiple medications over time. The present invention includes a container which has a plurality of compartments each configured to contain a plurality of dosages of a different medication. A rotatable lid is attached on top of the container such that an opening in the lid may be selectively positioned in fluid communication with each of the plurality of compartments. A lid position detection device is provided for identifying which of the compartments the opening is presently addressing. A programmable computing device is provided to track dosages administered from each of the plurality of compartments. A display, controlled by the programmable computing device, conveys information regarding the medication contained within a selected compartment. The ability to transmit and receive information from an external device or the Internet, either by a data port or wirelessly, is provided for increased functionality of the device.
Abstract:
A system for incentivizing purchases by consumers comprises a kiosk configured to appraise an item. A composition of the item is determined using an evaluating device. A cash value is associated with the item using data obtained by the evaluating device and market data obtained over a network, and an exchange value of the item is determined by subtracting a processing fee from the cash value. At least one of the cash value and the exchange value is relayed to the consumer on an output device. The consumer is asked to select via an input device between at least a first offer and a second offer in exchange for the item. A kiosk or mall booth for buying and receiving credit transaction cards, debit transaction cards, gift transaction cards, or coupons is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A sanitized vending machine includes product and cup dispensing mechanisms and an actuation mechanism. The product dispensing mechanism, holding one or more product items, rotates through a product dispensing cycle to dispense them. The cup dispensing mechanism, holding a stack of cups, rotates through a cup dispensing cycle to dispense a cup to a predetermined position. The dispensing cycles occur in a predetermined sequence so as to enable the dispensed product items to be received in a previously dispensed cup. The dispensing mechanisms respectively include rotatable first and second driven gears drivingly interfaced to rotate during respective product and cup dispensing cycles. The actuation mechanism includes a handle and a rotatable drive gear drivingly interfaced with the first driven gear. When the handle is turned by a user through an actuation cycle the driven gears rotate the respective mechanisms through respective product and cup dispensing cycles.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention relate to display devices for displaying cut flowers pivotally mounted with respect to a transparent display case. The display device comprises a drum and a container for an aqueous liquid therewithin. Additional embodiments of the present invention relate to vending machines comprising the display devices.
Abstract:
A medication dispenser including a container having a bottom, first and second upstanding sidewalls and first and second upstanding end walls with the container or liners positioned therein defining a plurality of open topped medication compartments. A plurality of compartment covers overlie and close the compartments to maintain medication within the compartments. Each of the covers has an outwardly extending tab or extension which assists in the opening of the cover. The upper ends of the sidewalls of the container are provided with a plurality of spaced-apart protrusions which extend outwardly from the associated sidewall beyond the outer ends of the tabs on the covers to shield the tabs to prevent inadvertent opening of the covers.
Abstract:
An automated method for dispensing pharmaceuticals particularly tablets and capsules, and other small discrete objects, includes: receiving prescription information, selecting a container, labeling the container, dispensing the tablets or capsules into the labeled container, applying a closure to the filled, labeled container, and offloading the container to a designated location. Preferably, the tablets are dispensed with high speed dispensing bins that employ forced air to agitate and singulate the tablets. The other functions within the system are typically carried out at stations designed to offer speed, flexibility and precision to the dispensing operation.
Abstract:
A pill-dispensing apparatus for automatically dispensing solid pills includes a plurality of storage units and a pill dispensing module. The storage units store pills in bulk and each include a hopper and an auger movably positioned with respect to the hopper. An inlet of the auger is positioned to receive pills from the hopper. The pill-dispensing module includes: a dock for receiving and holding a selected one of the storage units, a drive unit for rotating the auger to motivate the pills along the auger, a pill counter for counting pills dispensed from an auger outlet, and a lift for tilting the hopper to control flow and to assist in motivating pills to fall from the hopper and move along the auger.
Abstract:
A packaged commodity dispensing device in which a package commodity dispensing machine is easily repaired and a packaged commodity is easily supplied and exchanged. The packaged commodity dispensing machine dispenses a packaged commodity; a frame into which the packaged commodity dispensing machine is permitted to detachably fit from forward; and a fixing section to fix the packaged commodity dispensing machine in a state of fitting into the frame.
Abstract:
Tablets are delivered from a tablet storage case 3 mounted on a case support table 4, and when the tablets are passed through a delivery passage 9 formed in the case support table 3, quantity of the passed tablets is counted by a counting means 10. A start state of mounting of the tablet storage case 4 on the case support table 3 is detected by case detection means 8, 19, and the counting sensor 10 is kept in off state until the start state of mounting of the photon-electron conversion region 4 is detected by the case detection means 8, 19 and is set to on state after the detection. This ensures prevention of erroneous operation due to the mounting and dismounting of the tablet storage case 4 on and from the case support table 3.
