Abstract:
A humidifier for a wooden stringed instrument. The humidifier comprises a stiff, vapor-permeable tubular member having a cap attached to one end thereof. The humidifier is supported in a hole in the side wall of the stringed instrument, the stiffness of the tubular member allows the humidifier to be cantilevered within the sound box so that the tubular member does not contact the interior of the sound box. In a preferred embodiment, the humidifier is mounted in a hole extending through the string anchor insert of the instrument.
Abstract:
A musical instrument string winder for engaging a musical instrument knob (e.g. guitar knob) for tightening or loosening a musical instrument string includes a knob socket and a turning handle. The knob socket has an integral gear on one end and a recess for engaging a musical instrument knob on another end. The handle has an integral gear on one end and a substantially flat gripping portion on another end. The handle gear has a predetermined number of teeth which is at least more than half the number of teeth on the knob socket integral gear. A gear housing supports first and second idler gears, with the handle integral gear being engaged with the first idler gear, and with the knob socket integral gear being engaged with the second idler gear. The musical instrument string winder thus provides more than one rotation of the musical instrument knob for every one rotation of the handle.
Abstract:
The invention is an refers to a multiple flag marching baton which can be extended or hidden, respectively, such that the overall length of the baton remains constant for easier control.
Abstract:
A portable modular music recording device which simply and unobtrusively attaches to a keyboard instrument for purposes of recording live musical performances; and an efficient music microcomputing system in which the captured musical data is digitized and further analyzed to determine note and note expression information when a key has been played. In the modular keyboard device, key and key expression data is captured by means of photosensitive couplers mounted in the keyboard device, and the information is transmitted to the processing unit. Microcomputer instructions refine the data to a format suitable for serial transmission via a computer-compatible link for ultimate scoring and recording.
Abstract:
A combined carrying case and stand for belled musical instruments, primarily those of the brass and woodwind types, including a housing for protection against damage and a base which incorporates a support mechanism to safely secure the instrument exposed in an upright position and conveniently available for use. The combination includes a one-piece protective housing attachable to a base having mechanically extendable legs tangentially radiating from the base at fixed spaced pivot points. The base also includes a centerpost contoured to a particular instrument which with the legs extended assures maximum stability of the instrument when placed in a vertical position.
Abstract:
A music holder adapted to be placed on a piano or music stand for use with a bound book of music or bound pages of music that tend to assume a closed position unless held open, the book or music stand on which the book or bound pages are to be placed includes a bottom ledge. The music holder includes a back, a ledge or grooved bottom shelf and a front flap, the rear edge of the bottom shelf being connected to the bottom edge of the back, the bottom shelf protruding forwardly from the back, the bottom edge of the front flap being hinged to the front edge of the bottom shelf. The holder is adapted to receive a bound book of music or bound pages of music which will rest on the bottom shelf and lean back against the back with the bound book or bound pages open at certain pages and a front flap leaning rearwardly against such open pages to hold the bound book or bound pages in that open position. The holder is used pursuant to a certain method.
Abstract:
A mute for drums to reduce unwanted acoustical overtones and ringing. The mute includes a strip of leather, preferably suede, placed adjacent to the drum rim and lying loosely on the drumhead. Attaching flanges extend from the mute and are releasably attached to the drum rim, preferably by hook and teazle material. One such mute, or a plurality, may be used on a single drumhead as desired.
Abstract:
A saxophone neck grease plug for use in storing a saxophone after use which comprises a body defined by an upper portion and a lower portion with the upper portion defining a hollow cavity which is charged with grease and closed with a cap, the lower portion having a smaller diameter than the upper portion consisting of flexible fingers for telescopic insertion into varied sized saxophone neck sockets.
Abstract:
A device for micro tuning stringed instruments such as pianos, harps, and the like including a portable tool mechanism removably attachable to a tuning peg having appropriate gearing and means for rotating the gearing to provide micro metric rotation of a socket adapted to be operatively disposed on an associated tuning peg, whereby rotation of the peg wraps the string associated therewith in a precise fashion.
Abstract:
A guitar case and holder combination is provided which can be fixed by an auxilliary support member into a partially opened position enough to allow the case to stand upright and act as a holder for the guitar by means of a slanted and indented surface provided on one of the sides thereof.
