摘要: A memory device for recording, playback, and erasure of data through the application of an optical head along a memory medium includes a head carriage and a carriage lock. The head carriage moves the optical head along the surface of the memory medium, and the carriage lock prevents movement of the head carriage in response to a specific shock force. The carriage lock utilizes mechanical energy received from the shock force itself to prevent the movement of the head carriage.

摘要: The present invention disclosed the new kind of multi layer suspension and the method for making this. The multi-layer suspension of the present invention is comprises of a rectangular base plate section, a load beam and a flexure, said load beam can be further divided into a bending area adjacent to the base plate and a rigid area contiguous to said bending section, said suspension assembly is made up of three layers, wherein an adhesive layer is sandwiched between two stainless steel layers with parts of one of said stainless steel layers being etched off. The method for making such suspension including the steps of making three layer raw material, etching off parts of the stainless steel, etching off parts of the polyimide, and the forming and de-tab. The structure of multi-layer suspension of the present invention overcomes the problems of etching variations and misalignment exist in the traditional production of the suspension.

摘要: A magnet used for an actuator of an optical pickup has a magnetization pattern has two different pole areas adjacent with each other. At a corner part defined by the boundary line of the two pole areas, the pole area inside the corner part has a projection area, projecting in the direction of the pole area outside the corner part. Owing to the existence of the projection area, insufficiency of the magnetic flux density at the corner part particularly close to the vertex can be improved so that a desirable magnetic field can be provided to the printed coil substrate disposed in the vicinity of the magnet.

摘要: A relay lens driving device provided in an optical head moves a relay lens in the direction of an optical axis thereof to correct a spherical aberration that may be caused by an error in the thickness of a cover layer of an optical disk. The relay lens driving mechanism has a lens to correct spherical aberrations, a lens holder which holds the lens, a first parallel plate spring which supports the lens holder at one end thereof, an intermediate member attached to the other end of the first parallel plate spring, a second parallel plate spring arranged to extend from the intermediate member to the lens holder to support the intermediate member at one end thereof, and a fixing member which fixes the other end of the second parallel plate spring.

摘要: An optical pickup device including a slider on which an objective lens is mounted and which is elastically movably supported by a predetermined support member, an air bearing member provided in the slider so that a lifting force pushes the slider away from the disk according to air flow generated during rotation of the disc, and an actuator to change the position of the objective lens mounted on the slider in a focus direction relative to the disc. In the optical pickup device, the slider is lifted from a disk using a lifting force acting on the air bearing member and simultaneously the position of an objective lens is adjusted by a piezoelectric device to perform focus control. Therefore, collision between a disk and an objective lens can be avoided, and a focal position can be effectively controlled just by changing only the position of the objective lens, thereby increasing the reliability of a recording and/or reproducing operation.

摘要: The positional adjustment of an optical disk pickup has generally been performed, within a holding member for holding the end portion of a pickup guide shaft, by clamping the guide shaft between an elastic member and an adjusting screw, and by adjusting the advance amount of the adjusting screw with respect to the holding member. However, there has been a problem that a linear positional adjustment and a fine adjustment are made difficult by the unevenness and tilt of the surface of the adjusting screw which is in contact with the guide shaft. Accordingly, in the pickup guide shaft adjusting device according to the present invention, when a main or an auxiliary pickup guide shaft 17 or 18 is to be clamped between the elastic member 34 or 41 and the adjusting screw 37 within a guide shaft adjusting and holding member 19, the adjusting screw 37 is placed so that the center thereof deviates from that of the guide shaft 17 or 18, tilt is provided to the surface of the elastic member 41 which is in contact with the guide shaft 17 or 18, and the front end of the adjusting screw 37 which is in contact with the guide shaft 17 or 18 is formed as semispherical shape, so that the positional adjustment of the guide shaft 17 or 18 by the adjusting screw 37 can be performed linearly and finely.
