    摘要: A valve mechanism for a needleless connector employs a deformable piston having a piston head of elliptical cross-section with a marquise-shaped bore formed along its longitudinal axis wherein the major axes of the respective generally elliptical shapes are oriented perpendicular to one another. The piston head is captured within the connector housing and is reciprocal between a section of reduced diameter adjacent the connection port and a section of enlarged diameter. Constraining the piston head into the section of reduced diameter causes the elliptical bore to be squeezed shut while positioning the piston head in the section of enlarged diameter causes the piston head to relax and assume its natural elliptical shape, while the bore similarly regains its natural open shape to provide a fluid path therethrough. A compressible or extendible section affixed to the piston head serves to bias the piston into the section of reduced diameter. A tapered section of the piston contacts the housing to secure the top of the piston flush with the top of the housing for ease in cleaning.

The first and second main ducts form a substantially linear, axially extending flow path through the device. The first and second bodies include a recess formed between the first auxiliary duct and the second auxiliary duct. A separate filter housing is connected to the threaded cam of the first body following the removal of the second body. A sealing surface on the filter housing is sealed against the first body with the filter of the filter housing disposed transverse to the axially extending flow path.

    摘要: An automatically releasable shut-off coupling, for use in high pressure fluid applications, has matable and separable stationary and break-away modules forming a housing having a substantially straight throughpassage. An intermediate carrier member is slidably retained within the stationary module for movement from a retracted position to an extended position, upon application of a threshold value force by the break-away module. A locking element is retained in a first recess in the intermediate carrier member for movement between a locked position, corresponding to the retracted position of the intermediate carrier member, at which locked position the locking element partially enters a cooperating second recess in the break-away module, thereby to preclude movement of the break-away module relative to the intermediate carrier member, and an unlocked position, corresponding to the extended position of the carrier member, at which unlocked position the locking element is in register with a cooperating third recess in the housing of the stationary module. First and second ramp portions disposed on the second recess and the locking element, respectively, contact each other when the intermediate carrier member is in its extended position, such that the locking element is forcibly ejected radially outwardly from the second recess, thereby permitting movement of the break-away module relative to the intermediate carrier member. Fluid flow precluding valves block the throughpassage when the stationary module and the break-away module are separated one from the other.

    摘要: A breakaway unit which is adapted to be mounted in series flow relation with a fuel nozzle. The breakaway unit comprises a flex section which assures an axial transmission of forces to a valve section which is separated when a vehicle drives away from a dispensing unit with the nozzle lodged in its fuel tank. The valve section comprises inlet and outlet couplers and means for releasable locking the couplers in an assembled relation. These means comprise fingers which are flexed outwardly when a separating force exceeds a predetermined value. Garter springs embrace the fingers to accurately control at which the couplers will separate. The fingers engage angularly spaced lugs which permit the fingers to be telescoped therebetween and then rotated to a locking position to facilitate reassembly of the couplers with a minimum of effort. Alternate embodiments of the invention disclose other forms of spring means for accurately controlling the force at which the couplers will separate. Also disclosed are alternate constructions which minimize the effort required for reassembly.
