Abstract: An improved spray nozzle assembly for use in a steam desuperheating device that is adapted to spray cooling water into a flow of superheated steam. The nozzle assembly is of simple construction with relatively few components, and thus requires a minimal amount of maintenance. In addition, the nozzle assembly is specifically configured to, among other things, prevent thermal shock to prescribed internal structural components thereof, to prevent “sticking” of a valve element thereof, and to create a substantially uniformly distributed spray of cooling water for spraying into a flow of superheated steam in order to reduce the temperature of the steam.

Abstract: It is desirable to design and manufacture electronic chips that are resistant to modern reverse engineering techniques. Disclosed is a method and device that allows for the design of chips that are difficult to reverse engineer using modern teardown techniques. The disclosed device uses devices having the same geometry but different voltage levels to create different logic devices. Abstract: A valve body, for use in a valve housing having an inlet and outlet, includes a spherical outer surface. A flow opening extends diametrically from one side of the outer surface to an opposing side. A plurality of flow control passageways extend from the outer surface into the valve body. The valve body is moveable relative to the valve housing between a closed position, a restricted flow position, and a free flow position. In the closed position, the flow opening and all of the plurality of flow control passageways are out of alignment with the inlet and outlet. In the restricted flow position, at least one flow control passageway is moved into fluid communication with the inlet and outlet to facilitate fluid communication therebetween. In the free flow position, the flow opening is moved into fluid communication with the inlet and outlet to facilitate fluid communication therebetween.

Abstract: A control valve includes a valve body and a flow control device having a wall extending around a central axis. A plurality of flow control channels are formed in the wall, with each flow control channel extending in a first direction substantially parallel to the central axis and a second direction substantially perpendicular to the central axis toward an inner surface and terminating between an outer surface and the inner surface at an inner channel surface. A valve plug is moveable relative to the flow control device in a direction substantially parallel to the central axis between a closed position and an open position. In the closed position, the valve plug covers the plurality of flow control channels, and as the valve plug transitions from the closed position toward the open position, the plurality of flow control channels become exposed to receive fluid flow.

Abstract: A fluid control valve includes a housing defining a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet. A valve seat is coupled to the housing and is positioned between the inlet and the outlet. Abstract: A flow control device includes a cylindrical body disposed about a primary axis. The cylindrical body includes a primary flow passage extending therethrough. A ball element having an inlet flow passage extending therethrough is pivotable relative to the cylindrical body between an open position and a closed position. In the open position, the inlet flow passage is in fluid communication with the primary flow passage, and in the closed position, the inlet flow passage is not in fluid communication with the primary flow passage. The flow control device further comprises an internal flow control body having a collar positioned within the cylindrical body about the primary axis. Abstract: A valve for regulating the flow of a fluid includes a housing defining a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet. A flow control element is disposed within the housing and is configured to dissipate energy in a fluid flowing therethrough from the fluid inlet to the fluid outlet. A valve seat is positioned within the housing and includes a plurality of vortex generators which induce vortices in the fluid as the fluid flows through the valve seat. A plug is disposed within the housing and is moveable relative thereto between closed and open positions. The plug moves away from the valve seat as the plug moves from the closed position toward the open position such that fluid flow through the flow control element and the valve seat increases as the plug is moved from the closed position toward the open position.

Abstract: A fluid control valve includes a valve housing having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet. A valve body is disposed within the valve housing and is transitional relative to the valve housing between an open position and a closed position. In the closed position, the valve body prevents fluid flow between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet. The valve body is incrementally transitional from the closed position to the open position to incrementally increase the amount of fluid flow from the fluid inlet to the fluid outlet. A flow control element is positioned within the valve housing downstream of the valve body. The flow control element includes a peripheral body and an inward body having a plurality of flow control passageways extending therethrough. The flow control element additionally includes an opening defined collectively by the peripheral body and the inward body.
