Abstract:
The present invention relates to a cosmetic kit for depigmenting human skin comprising a multi-unit receptacle containing a first unit containing a microdermabrasion composition; a second unit containing a skin depigmenting composition; a third unit containing ascorbic acid in powder form; a fourth unit containing a skin soothing composition; optionally, a fifth unit containing a maintenance composition, and optionally a sixth unit containing a photoprotective composition. The present invention also relates to a method for treating human skin in need of depigmentation comprising the successive application, to an area of skin, of the compositions contained in the multi-unit receptacle.
Abstract:
A process for treating marionette lines damaged by age, sun exposure and pollution involving contacting the marionette lines with a composition containing: (a) from about 1 to about 20% by weight of ascorbic acid; (b) from about 30 to about 80% by weight of a nonaqueous polar organic solvent; and (c) from about 20 to about 60% by weight of a nonaqueous nonpolar organic solvent, all weights being based on the weight of the composition.
Abstract:
Disclosed are cosmetic or dermatological compositions that include a mono-hydroxyl substituted amine such as dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE), a sulfonic, phosphoric, or phosphonic acid derivative, and a cosmetically acceptable carrier. Also disclosed are methods for making and using the compositions.
Abstract:
Disclosed are cosmetic compositions containing water, at least one non-polar and/or polar oil, and an emulsification system comprising a polyoxyethylene oxide C12-C24 fatty acid ester; a sucrose fatty acid ester of vegetable origin, and a glyceryl and/or sorbitan C12-C24 fatty acid ester, and methods of making and using the compositions.
Abstract:
Homogeneous, stable artificial/sunless skin tanning foams comprise an effective skin tanning amount of at least one self-tanning agent, most notably dihydroxyacetone (“DHA”), and an effective foam quality-augmenting and visual and self-tanning agent stability-enhancing amount of the surfactant, sodium coco-sulfate.
Abstract:
The invention concerns novel light-stable filtering cosmetic compositions for topically protecting the skin and/or the hair against ultraviolet radiation, in particular solar radiation, comprising in a cosmetically acceptable support, at least a dibenzoylmethane derivative and at least an oily phase, and an efficient amount of at least a thickening copolymer including at least a hydrophobic unit in sufficient amount for it to be partially or completely soluble in the oily phase and at least a hydrophilic unit in sufficient amount for thickening the oily phase as stabilizing agent for the filter. The invention also concerns the corresponding method for providing dibenzoylmethane with light stability and the use of the compositions for skin and hair protection against the effects of ultraviolet radiation.
Abstract:
Cosmetic or pharmaceutical use of alkylpolyglycosides and/or O-acylated derivatives of glucose for treating hair loss. The compounds have the developed formula (II) where R1 is a radical or a mixture of alkyl or alkenyl radicals; x is from 1 to 15 and/or compounds of the formula (III) where R2 stands for a hydrocarbon chain and R3 represents a C1 to C4 alkyl group or hydrogen; the compounds of the formula (II) not being used in the presence of pyrimidine derivatives.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a composition for screening out ultraviolet radiation, comprising, in association, at least one nanopigment of metallic oxide and at least one UV-screening fat-soluble polymer.
Abstract:
Topically applicable sunscreen/cosmetic compositions well suited for enhanced photoprotection of human skin and/or hair against the damaging effects of UV-A and UV-B irradiation, particularly solar radiation, comprise (i) a photoprotecting effective amount of 2,4,6-tris[p-((2'-ethylhexyl)oxycarbonyl)anilino]-1,3,5-triazine and (ii) at least one homomenthyl and/or octyl salicylate solvent for the triazine sunscreen compound (i), in a cosmetically acceptable vehicle, diluent or carrier therefor.
Abstract:
The present application relates to photoprotective cosmetic compositions containing at least one metal oxide nanopigment and an acrylic terpolymer, as well as to the use of these compositions to protect the skin, the hair, the eyelashes, the eyebrows or mucous membranes against ultraviolet radiation. The acrylic terpolymer comprises:a) about 20 to 70% by weight of a carboxylic acid containing .alpha., .beta.-monoethylenic unsaturation,b) about 20 to 80% by weight of a non-surfactant monomer containing monoethylenic unsaturation, which is different from a), andc) about 0.5 to 60% by weight of a nonionic urethane monomer which is the product of reaction of a monohydric nonionic surfactant with a monoisocyanate containing monoethylenic unsaturation. The metal oxide nanopigments are chosen in particular from coated or uncoated titanium, cerium, zirconium, iron and zinc oxide nanopigments, or mixtures thereof, and have an elementary particle size of greater than 5 nm and less than 100 nm.
