Abstract:
Disclosed is a system and method for transmitting/receiving an encrypted Electronic Service Guide (ESG) in a mobile Digital Video Broadcasting-Handheld (DVB-H) Convergence of Broadcast and Mobile Service (CBMS) system. When a terminal performs roaming from a home network to a visited network, the terminal receives an ESG from a neighboring network and determines whether to perform user roaming or to perform service roaming according to the received ESG. In this case, the visited network provides the terminal either with an encrypted ESG and a key for the encrypted ESG, or with non-encrypted ESG through a dedicated channel, so that it is possible to provide the ESG only to specified terminals.
Abstract:
A MAC (Medium Access Control) control block for controlling transmission of data between a plurality of MAC clients and a plurality of MACs in an Ethernet passive optical network (EPON) is provided. The MAC control block includes the plurality of MAC clients and the plurality of MACs associated with the MAC clients for forming a frame for data transmission; a plurality of optical multipoint (OMP) blocks connected between the MAC clients and the MACs for implementing a multipoint control protocol (MPCP); and a multipoint gating control block for controlling the OMP blocks so that when any one of the OMP blocks is transmitting the data, the other OMP blocks are prevented from transmitting data.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for transmitting and receiving broadcasting data in a DMB system are provided to reduce power consumption and implement smooth and seamless service handover. In the transmitting method, a frame group is constructed, which includes one frame group header and at least one signal frame including broadcasting data of a service. The frame group header includes service burst information about services included in at least one following frame group and a first parameter indicating the relative start time of each of the services. The frame group is transmitted in a broadcasting signal.
Abstract:
An Ethernet protocol hierarchical structure for simultaneously providing real-time and non-real-time services is disclosed. The Ethernet media access control adaptation apparatus for real-time services performs operations between MAC layers and a MAC client for adapting synchronous Ethernet, in which real-time and non real-time services can be simultaneously provided based on an Ethernet MAC. The Ethernet MAC adaptation apparatus for connecting upper client equipment to lower Ethernet MAC equipment and providing real-time services using Ethernet includes a real-time data transmission/reception unit for performing a data transmission/reception from the upper client equipment in real-time, a non-real-time data transmission/reception unit for performing a data transmission/reception from the upper client equipment in non-real-time, a data scheduling unit for performing a transmission scheduling based on characteristics of input data each of which is inputted to the real-time and non-real-time data transmission/reception units, and an Ethernet data transmission/reception unit for transmitting the data to the lower Ethernet MAC equipment according to the schedule of the data scheduling unit, and classifying the data from the lower Ethernet MAC equipment according to the characteristics of the data thereof.
Abstract:
A method and system is disclosed that can support communications among devices contained in different piconets in a high-speed Wireless Personal Area Network. The high-speed WPAN includes a parent piconet, a newly designated child piconet using time slots allocated among devices in the parent piconet, and a bridge device which is located in the child piconet, that broadcasts information about the devices of the parent piconet and the child piconet to the devices included in the high-speed WPAN, and operates to perform a data transfer between a device in the child piconet and a device in the parent piconet. A media access control (MAC) frame structure that includes an overall capability field for indicating an overall capability of a specific device, a length field for indicating a length of a frame, and an element identifier (ID) field for identifying respective elements is used by the bridge device to facilitate communications. The overall capability field includes a device capability field for indicating a capability of the specific device, a piconet coordinator capability field for indicating a capability for determining whether the specific device can be a piconet coordinator (PNC), and a bridge capability field for indicating a capability for determining whether the specific device can be the bridge device. Criteria for establishing the bridge device are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A method for effectively implementing real time multimedia data transmission in an Ethernet network that operates in a CSMA/CD (Carrier Sense Multiple Access/Collision Detect) scheme. Real time data gets priority over general data, and uses an MPCP (Multi-Point Control Protocol) of the IEEE 802.3ah EPON to prevent a collision from occurring in real time data transmission, and also prevents delay time variation. An RT-IFG (Real Time Inter-Frame Gap) is defined for real time data, shorter than an IFG, to give priority to the real time data over general Ethernet data. The MPCP is used for transmission of real time data without collision between the real time data.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus of transmitting media content in a multimedia system are provided. The method includes determining a transmission unit for transmitting at least one multimedia source related to the media content, generating a data stream including header information and the at least one multimedia source according to the determined transmission unit, and transmitting the data stream through a communication network.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for transmitting service discovery information to a client in a multimedia transmission system of hybrid delivery, providing at least two services via a point to multi point (p-t-m) channel and a point to point (p-t-p) channel. Service discovery information is generated, including a first indication indicating whether a service corresponding to the service discovery information is of hybrid delivery, and is transmitted to the client.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for transmitting multimedia data in a broadcast system are provided. A method for constructing a payload for a multimedia frame to be transmitted via a heterogeneous network, in a broadcast system that supports an Internet protocol-based multimedia service, includes dividing the data so as to transmit data of at least one media type and constructing a data region based on each datum of the divided data, constructing a header region including information on the state of the data contained in the data region and/or information on the data region, and combining the data region and the header region to construct a payload for the multimedia frame.
