Abstract: An apparatus and method for managing reduced pressure at a tissue site are disclosed. The apparatus comprises a pump for supplying reduced pressure to the tissue site, a motor coupled to the pump to propel the pump, and a drive system electrically coupled to the motor that includes a power source that provides a source of direct current power to the motor during an operational period at a substantially constant current and of sufficient magnitude to supply a targeted reduced pressure during the operational period. The drive system also includes a controller that monitors the pump's loading on the motor by measuring the voltage across the motor to determine whether the motor voltage remains within a predetermined operational range of voltages necessary for maintaining the reduced pressure supplied by the pump proximate to the targeted reduced pressure without directly measuring the reduced pressure using a pressure sensor.

Abstract: In some illustrative embodiments, a system suitable for treating a tissue site may include a dressing, a low-profile conduit, a conduit interface, and a reduced-pressure source. The dressing may be adapted for positioning at the tissue site. The low-profile conduit may be adapted for fluidly coupling to the dressing. The low-profile conduit may include a manifold and a sealing member encapsulating the manifold. The conduit interface may be adapted for fluidly coupling to the low-profile conduit. The conduit interface may be in fluid communication with the dressing through the low-profile conduit. The reduced-pressure source may be adapted for fluid communication with the conduit interface. Other systems, devices, and methods are disclosed.

Abstract: In some examples, a therapy unit for treating a tissue site may include an enclosure, a multi-function mount, and a pump. The enclosure may include at least one pneumatic conduit. The multi-function mount may be coupled within the enclosure and may include at least one pneumatic seal integrally formed as part of the multi-function mount and configured to provide a pneumatic seal relative to the at least one pneumatic conduit. The pump may be carried by the multi-function mount. Also provided are other apparatuses, systems, and methods suitable for treating a tissue site.

The height is configured to create a gap between the drape layer and the dressing layer. The recess is disposed substantially about a perimeter of the body. The recess is configured to receive an edge of a cutting tool so that an opening is formed in the drape layer when the edge is traversed about the perimeter.

Abstract: A reduced pressure treatment system includes a liquid-collection canister for collecting liquid from a tissue site to which reduced pressure treatment is applied. The canister includes a first space configured to collect the liquid from the tissue site and a filter having a frame and a non-planar filter element. The filter defines a second space within the canister separated from the first space by the filter element. The filter element substantially prevents liquid from passing from the first space into the second space. The filter element substantially allows gaseous communication between the first space and the second space when the second space is exposed to a reduced pressure.

Abstract: Manifold structures, systems, and methods are disclosed that include using longitudinal members and one or more shaped projections to cause microstrain at a tissue site. In one instance a manifold structure includes a plurality of spaced longitudinal members and at least one shaped projection coupled to at least one of the plurality of longitudinal members for creating a microstrain at a tissue site. The at least one shaped projection includes a columnar member having a distal end and includes an enlarged member positioned at the distal end of the columnar member. The columnar member has a first outer diameter (D1) and the enlarged member has a second outer diameter (D2). The second outer diameter of the enlarged member is greater than the first outer diameter of the columnar member (D2>D1). Other systems, methods, and structures are presented.

Abstract: An inline storage-and-liquid-processing pouch for use with body fluids from a patient is presented that involves introducing body fluids into a first chamber in the storage-and-liquid-processing pouch and flowing air through a second chamber. The chambers are separated by a high-moisture-vapor-transfer-rate member. Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for providing negative pressure with instillation fluids to a tissue site are disclosed. Some embodiments are illustrative of an apparatus or system for delivering negative-pressure and/or therapeutic solution of fluids to a tissue site, which can be used in conjunction with sensing properties of fluids extracted from a tissue site and/or instilled at a tissue site. For example, a system may comprise a tissue interface adapted to be coupled to a source of instillation fluid and a dressing interface having a therapy cavity that includes a pH sensor, a humidity sensor, a temperature sensor, and a pressure sensor embodied on a single pad within the dressing interface to provide data indicative of acidity, humidity, temperature and pressure at the tissue site. Such apparatus may further comprise algorithms for processing such data for detecting leakage and blockage conditions as well as providing information relating to the progression of healing of wounds at the tissue site. An illustrative method may comprise disposing the tissue interface at the tissue site and the therapeutic cavity in fluid communication with the tissue interface. The method may further comprise instilling fluid to the therapy cavity and then sensing the pressure, humidity, temperature, and the pH of the fluids adjacent the tissue interface. The method may further comprise determining various flow characteristics of the system by using a processing element electrically coupled to the sensors for transmitting property signals from the sensors to a controller configured to assess the property signals in order to identify the flow characteristics.
