Abstract:
A DEEP EMBOSSED, SHINGLE LAP SIDING FOR BUILDING WALL AND ROOF STRUCTURES FORMED OF COMPRESSED WOOD FIBERS HAVING AN UNEVEN, DEEP EMBOSSED SURFACE ON ONE SIDE COMPRISING HIGH AND LOW PORTIONS AND RESEMBLING WOOD SHINGLES. A FIRST COATING OF COLORING OR TINTING AGENT IS APPLIED ONLY ON SELECTED PORTIONS OF SAID UNEVEN SURFACE AND THEREFATER A SECOND COATING OF COLORING OR TINTING AGENT IS APPLIED OVER SUBSTANTIALLY THE ENTIRE UNEVEN SURFACE, THEREBY PROVIDING AN APPEARANCE OF STAINED WOOD SHINGLES.
Abstract:
METHOD OF ISOLATING CRYSTALLINE XYLOSE FROM AN AQUEOUS PLANT EXTRACT CONTAINING MONOSACCHARIDES OF WHICH AT LEAST 50 PERCENT IS XYLOSE, WHICH COMPRISES CONCENTRATING SAID EXTRACT TO A FIRST SYRUP, DISSOLVING SAID SYRUP IN A WATER-MISCIBLE ALCOHOL, REMOVING INSOLUBLE MATERIALS FROM THE ALCOHOL SOLUTION, EVAPORATION OF THE ALCOHOL SOLUTION TO A SECOND SYRUP, DILUTING SAID SECOND SYRUP WITH ACETIC ACID TO FORM A SOLUTION CONTAINING AT LEAST 25 PERCENT ACETIC ACID, AND SEPARATING THE CRYSTALLINE XYLOSE WHICH IS PRECIPITATED FROM SAID SOLUTION.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for operating a rotary saw with saw guides that apply lateral surface pressure to guided saw blades mounted on a saw arbor and more particularly wherein each of a plurality of saw guides is positioned in spaced relation as to engage the sides of a saw blade with little or no pressure until after the saws have developed substantial inertia and speed of rotation, the saw guides then being moved into pressure engagement with the saw blades while simultaneously positioned to establish predetermined guide planes for each of the saw blades. A saw guide for rotary saw machines having at least one rotary saw blade keyed to a saw arbor and axially movable thereon, the saw guide comprising a pair of substantially parallel support arms having contact surfaces for engaging opposite sides of a rotary saw blade, means for securing the support arms together in back of the trailing edge of the saw blade, and means for selectively positioning the support arms in predetermined spaced relation in front of the leading edge of the saw blade to establish a pressure contact with the guided saw blade or allow the support arms to move apart and release the pressure on the saw blade.
Abstract:
In combination with a saw machine having a relatively thin circular saw mounted upon an arbor with floating axial looseness and a saw guide defining a limiting control plane for guiding the leading edge of said saw, a splitter mounted for lateral movement and laterally positioned by the rear edge of said saw. A splitter for use in saw machines having a circular saw and comprising a pair of spaced contacts, each contact having a bearing surface for making contact with opposite sides of a circular saw, and a divider member having a plurality of resilient contacts that extend into a region above said spaced contacts and in trailing relation to the rear edge of a saw.
