摘要: Three extensions to the conventional field specialization process are disclosed. The first extension is cross-application value flows, where a value transfers out of one application and subsequently into another application. The second extension is an inter-application analysis. Static and dynamic analysis is performed by a Spiff Toolset not just on the source code of a single application, but also across the data read and written by that application. The third extension is invariant cross-application termination, verifying the possibility of an invariant originating in an application and terminating in a specialization opportunity in a separate application. An ecosystem specification is disclosed to enable such field specialization broadening. This specification states which applications are involved, what input data sources are read, what intermediate and final data products are produced, and what services are invoked, thereby providing valuable information on how intermediate results are communicated among the various applications.

摘要: Disclosed are modular floating platforms configured to be joined together to form a cover over surfaces of natural and artificial bodies of water and other liquids, for reducing evaporation and other purposes. The floating platforms may be motorized and provided with remote control systems, so that the platforms may be assembled together on command to provide uniform coverage of the surface of the body of water. The floating platforms are optionally capable of solar and wind power collection. The platforms are useful for covering mining tailing storage ponds.

摘要: Methods, materials, devices, and systems for electropolymeric paving and sealing (ePEPS) are provided. The methods include delivering paving materials to an interior surface of a blood vessel, tissue lumen or other hollow space, delivering electronic components to the surface, and forming a conformal device that contains the paving material and the integrated electronic components. Integrated electronic components can be homogenously or heterogeneously distributed in the material, such as on the top, middle, and/or bottom of the polymeric material. The devices are biocompatible, and preferably biodegradable or bioerodible. The devices integrated electrical properties useful for sensing or detecting one or more analytes, signals or conditions, transmitting or generating a signal, or releasing a therapeutic, prophylactic or diagnostic agent. Optionally, the devices are smart devices that include feedback and logic means to respond to a change in local conditions.

摘要: An embodiment method for managing connections on a communications network having an optical network portion includes receiving a request for a first connection at a controller in signal communication with one or more reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexers (ROADMs) controlling an optical network portion of a communications network, wherein the controller is connected to the communications network. The controller determines a route on the communications network for the first connection according to conditions of the communications network, with the route comprising one or more first links of the optical network. The controller determines one or more first ROADMs controlling the one or more first links and sends commands from the controller to the one or more first ROADMs to allocate bandwidth on the one or more first links.

摘要: A solar concentrator may have a horizontal circular track on the ground, a tower centered on a vertical axis of the track, and a rotatable structure around the track having an upper, concave mounting surface approximating the shape of part of a sphere centered on the top of the tower. Articulated concave mirrors are attached to the rotatable structure, and the mirrors have a focal length approximately equal to the radius of a sphere portion formed by the concave mounting surface. Sunlight is focused at a receiver mounted atop the tower, and the receiver may convert sunlight into thermal or electrical energy. As the position of the Sun changes, sunlight is maintained on the receiver by turning the rotatable structure toward the Sun, turning the receiver about said vertical axis to face the mirrors, and articulating the mirrors toward the receiver in response to the changing elevation of the Sun.

摘要: A method for the electrolytic production of pure copper from copper-containing compounds dissolved in a high-temperature bath of molten salts which function as an electrolyte in an electrolytic cell. An electric current is passed between an anode immersed in the copper-ion rich molten salt bath and a cathode or cathode-lined kettle in which the molten salt bath is contained, thereby reducing the dissolved copper ions to form pure molten copper. The deposited molten copper collects at the bottom of the kettle and can be separated from the molten salt bath using conventional means.
