Abstract:
A monitoring system for detecting faults in an apparatus, such as a ski lift, employs a communication network onto which a sensor bus controller periodically transmits a safety message and receives a echo of each safety message. Different sensors are coupled to sensor adapter modules that in turn are connected in a series to the communication network. After the last sensor adapter module in the series, each safety message is echoed back along the communication network. Each sensor adapter module, upon receiving a safety message, increments a count in that message and transmits the resultant safety message to another module. When a sensor indicates a fault condition, the associated sensor adapter module blocks propagation of safety messages along the communication network. The sensor bus controller determines, in response to a failure to receive the echo and to the count in the echo, whether a fault occurred.
Abstract:
A method for analyzing the use of a work machine is disclosed. In one embodiment, the method may include providing a computer with a neural network on the work machine. Further, the method may include inputting data to the computer, at least a portion of the data associated with a load experienced by one of the components of the work machine. The neural network, when executed by the computer may then classify a current operation of the work machine into one of a plurality of types of operations.
Abstract:
A vacuum booster includes a housing defining a control volume in which a movable diaphragm separates the control volume into an apply chamber and a vacuum chamber. A power piston extends through and engages the diaphragm and has an axial bore containing a valve assembly that controls a diaphragm pressure differential across the diaphragm. The power piston drives an output rod in the forward direction. The output rod has a rearward portion exposed to pressure within the vacuum chamber and a forward face exposed to atmospheric pressure. When the pressure within vacuum chamber is less than atmospheric, a piston pressure differential across the power piston provides a return force in the rearward direction to the power piston.
Abstract:
A filter has a longitudinal axis with an inner diameter defined by a hollow longitudinally extending center. The filter has fingers extend radially outwardly arcuately from the longitudinal axis. The fingers have base ends near the longitudinal axis and outer edges at extremities spaced from the longitudinal axis. The outer diameter of the filter is defined by the outer edges of the fingers. The filter is formed from a sintered porous molded thermoplastic or another material resulting in a filter more rigid than standard filters. The fingers are spaced apart from one another a predetermined, substantially fixed distance to form slots therebetween sized to capture contaminants therein.

A dynamic content assembly system, including an application and underlying database, with methods to support the creation, transformation and management of relationship information between resources and to enable dynamic assembly of content based on these relationships.
Abstract:
A tong as may be used for a continuous circulation system in a wellbore. The tong has a housing with a hollow interior. A plurality of spaced apart jaw assemblies reside within the housing's hollow interior for engaging a portion of a tubular to be gripped and rotated by the tong. A gear wheel is secured to the housing for rotating the housing and the jaw assemblies. The gear wheel includes a toothed outer circumference for mating with teeth of a drive shaft of a driving motor. A gear flange is movably mounted on the gear wheel such that rotation of the gear wheel does not rotate the gear flange.
Abstract:
A method of producing a stream of aqueous chlorine dioxide sterilizing fluid suitable for use in sterilizing medical and dental equipment or for wound irrigation or skin asepsis is described. Steps are: pumping fluid portions of a first reagent and a second reagent into the proximal end of an elongate reaction chamber (24) to form a reaction mixture, the reagents being selected to react together to form aqueous chlorine dioxide; providing a stream of water around or adjacent to the distal end of the reaction chamber (24); continuing to pump fluid portions of said reagents so as to cause the reagent mixture to travel through the reaction chamber and then into the stream of water to form a stream of aqueous chlorine dioxide sterilizing fluid; wherein the pumping rates and the internal dimensions of the elongate reaction chamber (24) are selected so that the reaction to form chlorine dioxide is substantially complete when the reagent mixture exits the reaction chamber (24); and continuing pumping fluid portions of said reagents until a desired quantity of said sterilizing fluid has been produced; wherein the pumping of each reagent is carried out by means of a diaphragm pump (90, 92) or a piston pump via a pressure-control valve (32, 34) so that each fluid portion is pumped at substantially constant pressure.
Abstract:
A rotor assembly for use in an electric motor or generator where the mass of the rotor assembly is reduced with respect to conventional rotor assemblies. In addition, the rotor assembly is configured to be scalable to different sized electric motors. Within the rotor assembly, the rotor hub, the shaft, and the permanent magnets can independently or collectively be modified to have a reduced mass. In one aspect, a portion of the rotor hub adjacent to the shaft is configured with passages and spokes. In another aspect, an intermediate hub with lightening holes is provided between the shaft and the rotor hub. In yet another aspect, a large diameter hollow shaft replaces a portion of the rotor hub. In yet another aspect, the permanent magnets are configured to have an arc-shape, which permits the thickness of the magnets to be reduced without reducing the efficiency of the magnets.

Under the present invention, a method, system, chat interface, and program product for comparing free time between instant message chat members in order to schedule an upcoming event are provided. The method includes: storing individual calendars corresponding to each member of the chat; initiating a free time comparison; and combining the individual calendars corresponding to each member of the chat into a free time summary calendar, wherein the free time summary calendar indicates at least one of free time periods that are simultaneously available to all of the members of the chat and conflict time periods during which at least two chat members simultaneously have an event scheduled. The free time summary calendar may be viewed in day, week, and month view formats.
