摘要:
A recording scan is performed through a relative reciprocation of color recording heads on a recording material. The recording heads can record with higher recording density than that of input image date. A plurality of pixels (2.times.2)are formed for each pixel of input image data. A mixed color image is recorded by multiple scans of the recording heads, in such a manner that pixels thereof (2.times.2) are not subjected to superposition of ink of two colors or more during a scan of the recording heads. Thus, it is possible to prevent an occurrence of variations in mixed color, and to record a high quality color image without increasing a recording time. Further, an amount of ink of one color may be reduced when recording a second one of the scans.

This invention is a recording head cartridge which includes a plurality of inks having a density difference for an ink of one color, includes recording heads on a single substrate or in an adjacent aligned state, and integrates ink tanks for the plurality of inks, so as to reliably perform gradation recording while achieving a simple control circuit, and improvement in operability upon replacement. This invention also provides a structure in which ink tanks in the cartridge are integrated to determine a light/depth printing order, and have different volumes so as to improve advantages of replacement.

An ink jet recording apparatus executes recording with a recording head, provided in a main body, for ejecting ink. The apparatus includes a head temperature detection member provided for the recording head, a reference temperature detection member provided for the main body, and a timer means for counting time. The apparatus further includes a correction amount determination section for determining a correction amount of a head temperature detected by the head temperature detection member based on a detected value of the head temperature detection member and a detected value of the reference temperature detection member at a predetermined time counted by the timer means. A calibration section is provided for calibrating a head temperature detected by the head temperature detection member based on the correction amount.

The present invention involves an ink jet recording method involving providing a movable carriage and a plurality of ink jet recording heads disposed on the carriage, each ink jet recording head having a number of ink discharge energy generating elements and a corresponding number of discharge ports for recording a recording region, and applying driving signals to at least a fraction of the ink discharge energy generating elements corresponding to a fraction of the plural number of the discharge ports. Additionally, at the start of recording the number of the recording heads which are used during recording of a particular region is increased, and then at the conclusion of recording the quantity of recording heads which are used during recording of the particular region are decreased. This particular region has a length relating to the feeding pitch of the recording medium.

An ink jet recording apparatus includes a recording head for ejecting ink from ejection unit to cause a change in temperature in a recording period, a temperature keeping unit for maintaining a temperature of the recording head at a predetermined keeping temperature higher than an upper limit of a surrounding temperature range in which recording is possible, a temperature prediction unit for predicting an ink temperature in the ejection unit in the recording period prior to recording, and an ejection stabilization unit for stabilizing ink ejection from the ejection unit according to the ink temperature in the ejection unit predicted by the temperature prediction unit.

A recording section of each of recording heads of different recording colors is divided into a plurality of sub-sections, and the recording heads are moved back and forth relative to a recording medium to conduct a main scan in each run, and thinned images are sequentially recorded on the same area of the recording medium by using different recording sections of the recording heads in a plurality of main scans. The numbers of dots recorded in the main scans are equal without regard to the image data to prevent ununiformity of density due to reach accuracy and amount of discharge and regular ununiformity of color due to a sequence of ink injection.

An ink jet recording apparatus includes a recording head with a number of ink ejection orifices for ejecting ink. The number of ink ejection orifices are grouped into N blocks which can be driven simultaneously, are arranged in an eject orifice array and perform recording by divisionally driving the N blocks. A recording medium and the recording head are moved relative to each other by a conveying length obtained by equally dividing an ejection orifice array of the recording head into n parts. The recording apparatus masks a signal to be recorded such that 1/n dots, where n

This specification discloses an ink jet recording apparatus in which the density of black can be emphasized as compared with that of the other colors, with time cost, hue and blur in the boundary between different colors being suppressed, and wherein when ink is impacted from a multihead to all picture elements in a predetermined area, discharge by a plurality of multinozzles is effected to an image datum at the same position and in the same scan with an amount of ink per discharge for which the area factor in the area is less than 100% and the amount of ink per discharge from a multihead for one color is made greater than that for the other colors.

In an apparatus for recording color images making use of a plurality of inks of different colors (Y, M, C, K), the penetrability of at least one ink is caused to differ from that of the other inks. In particular, the penetrability of an ink higher in lightness is made higher than that of another ink lower in lightness. For example, inks are prepared in such a manner that their penetrability becomes higher in the order of K
