Abstract:
A display device with a touch detection function includes a display function layer, a plurality of touch detection electrodes arranged side by side to extend in a first direction, and a plurality of drive electrodes arranged side by side to extend in a second direction, electrostatic capacitance being formed at intersections of the touch detection electrodes and the drive electrodes. The plurality of drive electrodes extends to a first position or a second position outside of the first position, the first position being away from a center of an outermost touch detection electrode by a half length of an arrangement pitch of the touch detection electrodes, the outermost touch detection electrode being defined as outermost one of touch detection electrodes included in an effective display region of the display function layer, and an outer edge of the effective display region is located on or inside the first position.
Abstract:
The reliability of a display device with an input device is improved. A plurality of detection electrodes (input position detection electrodes) forming an electrostatic capacity between them and a common electrode of a display device to detect an input position are formed on a different substrate from substrates configuring the display device. Moreover, a polarizing plate and the substrate on which the plurality of detection electrodes are formed are adhesively fixed via, for example, an adhesive layer so that the plurality of detection electrodes are fixed so as to be separated apart from the display device. Thus, a distance between electrodes (the detection electrode and a driving electrode) for detecting an input position can be set separately from a thickness of the display device, and therefore, reduction in detection sensitivity (detection reliability) for the input position due to increase in the electrostatic capacity can be suppressed.

Alternatively, the metal wiring layer is not disposed at a position between the same colors as those at the division position of the common electrode wiring layer.
Abstract:
According to an aspect, a display device with a touch detection function includes: a scan drive unit that supplies a touch drive signal to a touch detection element in a touch detection operation period different from a display operation period in which a pixel signal and a display drive signal are sequentially supplied to display elements to perform display scanning; and a noise detector that detects noise included in a frequency component sampled by a touch detection unit. When the noise detector detects the noise, the scan drive unit changes a frequency of the touch drive signal in the touch detection operation period and supplies the changed frequency to the touch detection element.
Abstract:
A sensor-integrated display panel including an operation surface for performing an input operation and an image display surface which are formed integrally with a sensor as one piece. A data transfer device supplies the sensor-integrated display panel with a drive signal for driving the sensor and outputs sensing data corresponding to a potential of a sensor signal output from the sensor. A contact electrode is provided in a frame formed around the sensor-integrated display panel to vary the potential of the sensor signal when a conductor touches or does not touch to the frame. An application executing device receives and analyzes the sensing data and generates a signal to select an operating function in accordance with an analysis result.

According to one embodiment, the touch drive device includes a plurality of drive electrodes arranged side by side to extend in a single direction, a detection electrode which extends in a direction crossing the direction in which the drive electrodes extend, and generates capacitances at intersections of the detection electrode and the drive electrodes, and a driver (DDI) which groups the drive electrodes into a plurality of drive electrode portions each including at least one drive electrode, and performs a touch scanning drive by supplying a touch drive signal (TSVCOM) having a pulse waveform for detection of a closely situated external object to a target drive electrode portion which is a selected one of the drive electrode portions. The number of the drive electrodes included in each of the drive electrode portions and the target drive electrode portion to which the touch drive signal (TSVCOM) is supplied can be designated.

The touch detector includes: a plurality of drive electrodes arranged side by side to extend in one direction; a detection electrode extending in a direction orthogonal to a direction where the drive electrodes extend, and arranged to form a capacitance at each of intersections with the drive electrodes; and a scanning drive section sequentially selecting a predetermined plural number of target electrodes from the plurality of drive electrodes in a time-divisional manner, and applying a touch detection drive signal with a plurality of pulse waveforms for detecting an external adjacent object to the selected target electrodes to perform a scanning drive. A scanning pitch in the scanning drive is smaller than the total width of the plural number of selected target electrodes.
