Abstract:
A stumble detection system is disclosed for use with a powered artificial leg for identifying whether a stumble event has occurred. The stumble detection system includes an acceleration sensor for providing acceleration data indicative of the magnitude of acceleration of a person's foot, and a detector that determines whether a stumble event has occurred responsive to the acceleration data and provides an output signal.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a presenter device may determine displayed windows of applications, and may provide individual window sharing selectability (e.g., shared or unshared), as well as entire application sharing selectability (shared, unshared, or neither). In particular, the entire application sharing selectability takes priority over individual window sharing selections (i.e., all windows of shared applications are shared and all windows of unshared applications are unshared). Based on individual window sharing selections and entire application sharing selections, a set of presenter device windows that are to be shared with the attendee devices may be determined, as well as a set of unshared windows that are not to be shared with the attendee devices, and the presenter device may share the set of shared windows with the attendee devices, without sharing the set of unshared windows.
Abstract:
A non-porous membrane suitable for use in removing dissolved oxygen in a fuel deoxygenator device in an aircraft is produced by solvent casting. A first membrane layer is deposited on a substrate. A second membrane layer is deposited on top of the first membrane layer. Subsequent membrane layers may be deposited on top of the second membrane layer as desired. The resulting non-porous membrane allows little or no leaking of fuel across the membrane.
Abstract:
A parallel flash memory controller, a chip, and a control method thereof are disclosed. First, an on-chip control bus sends flash memory control instructions in parallel to instruction parsing units (211) according to channels. Next, the instruction parsing units store (211) and parse the flash memory instructions corresponding to the flash memory channels, and sequentially send the flash memory control instruction to the flash memory control units (213). Then, the flash memory control units (213) send control instructions to the flash chips in the channels according to rows, and then the control instructions are processed in parallel in flash memory rows. In the present invention, the operations for each channel are performed independently in parallel, the flash memory control units (213) in the channels send the control instructions in series, and meanwhile, in each flash memory row, operations are concurrently performed in parallel. Therefore, the read/write rate of the flash memory is increased for many times, and the bottleneck in adopting flash memory chips to accomplish high-speed and large-capacity storage devices is effectively eliminated.
Abstract:
A self-adaptive control method for logical strips based on a multi-channel solid-state non-volatile storage device is provided. The method includes the following steps. Storage space of every channel is divided into a plurality of storage units of equal size. At least one logical strip is set by which the storage units with discrete physical addresses across the channels are organized into a continuous logical space, and a logical strip variable is set for determining the storage units organized by the logical strip. Historical operation information of the storage device is obtained statistically, and the logical strip variable is dynamically adjusted according to the obtained operation information. During data interaction, the data is divided according to the logical strip variable, the divided data is mapped to the storage units of every channel, and parallel reading and writing operations are performed among the channels.
Abstract:
A fuel system for an energy conversion device includes a multiple of non-metallic fuel plates, gaskets, oxygen permeable membranes, porous substrate plates, and vacuum frame plates. Intricate 3-dimension fuel channel structures such as laminar flow impingement elements within the fuel channel dramatically enhance oxygen diffusivity in the FSU. The fuel plates are manufactured from a relatively soft non-metallic material. The non-metallic fuel plates and gasket arrangement provide an effective sealing interface between the fuel plate and oxygen permeable membrane, since compression may be applied to the plates without damaging the relatively delicate oxygen permeable membrane.
Abstract:
A method for identifying neuronal spikes (extracellular action potentials) is described wherein measured microelectrode readings from tissue are reviewed to identify spikes (successive readings having prolonged rises and/or falls). The frequency of such spikes as a function of their amplitude assumes a bimodal distribution wherein higher amplitude spikes represent neuronal spikes (signal) and lower amplitude spikes represent noise, and thus the higher amplitude spikes can be assumed to be neuronal spikes. Neuronal spikes from the same neuron can then be assumed to have substantially the same waveform shape and period, with the only significant difference between them being the scaling of their amplitudes (i.e., the amplitudes of spikes from the same neuron tend to be proportionate at any given time along their period). Thus, by testing identified neuronal spikes for matching timing and for proportional amplitudes, the neuronal spikes may further be identified as coming from the same or different neurons.
