Abstract:
Methods for separating AAV empty capsids from mixtures of AAV vector particles and AAV empty capsids are described. The methods use column chromatography techniques and provide for commercially viable levels of recombinant AAV virions.
Abstract:
A block manifold for a fail safe actuator system allows the actuator operation with a hand pump if electrical power were not available. A method is available to isolate fail safe solenoid valves and an accumulator from a hand pump circuit to relieve the stored energy from the fail safe circuit. An additional set of pilot operated check valves were installed between the motor driven pump circuit and the hand pump circuit. These pilot operated check valves isolated the hand pump circuit from the fail safe dump solenoid and accumulator. These pilot actuated check valves also hold the actuator in the fail safe position as long as the hand pump system was not used. There is also a hydraulic bleed circuit to relieve the accumulator stored energy when the hand pump system was used.
Abstract:
A protective coating for a substrate includes a diamond-like carbon (DLC) layer overlying the substrate and having gaps where the substrate is not protected by the diamond-like carbon layer. The protective coating also includes a self-assembled monolayer formed in the gaps of the diamond-like carbon layer.
Abstract:
Compounds are provided that act as potent antagonists of the CCR2 receptor. These compounds are useful for treating inflammation, a hallmark disease for CCR2. The compounds are generally aryl sulfonamide derivatives and are useful in pharmaceutical compositions, methods for the treatment of CCR2-mediated diseases, and as controls in assays for the identification of CCR2 antagonists.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a pipe coupling for rigid plastics pipes having smooth cylindrical ends. The coupling includes a rigid sleeve having a longitudinal bore. Two spaced apart annular grooves are provided in the bore to respectively house deformable annular seals adjacent the ends of the sleeve. O-rings will be used as seals. A harness is securable over the sleeve with pipe engaging teeth adjacent each of the opposite ends. The harness is split longitudinally with a cylindrical passage having an annular recess to receive the sleeve. The teeth are formed by serrated ridges, preferably screw threads, in the passage extending from the recess to the outer ends of the passage. Corresponding lateral lugs on each half of the harness have bolt holes for assembly of the harness over the sleeve. The coupling is particularly suited for connecting plastics pipes used to convey backfill, normally in underground mining operations.
Abstract:
A head assembly having a sensor element on the head assembly. Embodiments of the sensor element are configured to detect non-contact induced head-media interface instability, “onset of contact” or low level interference. The non-contact head-media instability or interference is detected based upon sensor feedback relating to excitation of the air bearing resonance modes of the slider body. In embodiments of the present invention, the sensor head assembly includes a microactuator which is energizable to microactuate the head or transducer elements on the head assembly.
Abstract:
A support assembly includes a base layer, a circuit defined along the base layer, and a first material molded on at least a portion of the base layer. The first material substantially forms a shape of at least a portion of the support assembly. Further disclosed is a molded suspension assembly. The molded suspension assembly includes a thin and elongate metallic substrate and a non-metallic material molded along at least a portion of one side of the metallic substrate. The non-metallic material interlocks with the metallic substrate. The molded suspension assembly includes a transducer support area at or near a first end of the molded suspension assembly.
Abstract:
Compounds are provided that act as potent antagonists of the CCR9 receptor, and which have been further confirmed in animal testing for inflammation, one of the hallmark disease states for CCR9. The compounds are generally aryl sulfonamide derivatives and are useful in pharmaceutical compositions, methods for the treatment of CCR9-mediated diseases, and as controls in assays for the identification of CCR9 antagonists.
Abstract:
This invention provides methods and devices for identifying and/or characterizing interactions involving molecules, including, but not limited to, identifying and/or characterizing interactions involving target molecules and candidate molecules. The present invention provides methods using multidimensional infrared spectrographic techniques, such as four wave mixing and pump-probe techniques, for identifying interactions involving biomolecules and therapeutic candidate molecules, and for characterizing such interactions in terms of their binding coefficients and/or equilibrium constants.
Abstract:
