摘要： A process cartridge is detachably mountable to a main assembly of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus. The process cartridge includes an electrophotographic photosensitive member, a developing member for developing an electrostatic latent image forming on the electrophotographic photosensitive member, a developing device frame including a first frame portion supporting the developing member and a second frame portion having a developer accommodating portion for accommodating a developer to be used for developing the electrostatic latent image by the developing member, first and second electroconductive portions disposed to be spaced from each other to detect, by the main assembly of the apparatus, a remaining amount of the developer in the process cartridge, a cartridge contact electrically connectable with the main assembly of apparatus when the process cartridge is mounted to the main assembly of the apparatus, the cartridge contact being disposed in the second frame portion, a contacting electrode electrically connected with the cartridge contact, the contacting electrode being disposed in the second frame portion, and a first electroconductive portion contact electrically connected with the first electroconductive portion, the first electroconductive portion contact being disposed in the first frame portion. The first electroconductive portion contact and the contacting electrode contact each other between spaced apart connecting portions or between an elastic seal located between the first frame portion and the second frame portion.

摘要： A coupling pin for coupling a first frame and a second frame of a process cartridge detachably mountable relative to a main assembly of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus includes (a) a first shaft portion for being press-fitted into a first hole formed in the first frame; and (b) a second shaft portion for being press-fitted into a second hole formed in the first frame, where the second shaft portion is upstream of the first shaft portion in a direction of press-fitting of the coupling pin. The second shaft portion has an outer diameter which is larger than that of the first shaft portion. The pin further includes (c) a third shaft portion for being loosely fitted into a hole formed in the second frame with a gap between the third shaft portion and inside surface of the hole of the second shaft.

摘要： A process cartridge detachably mountable to a main assembly of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus for forming an image on a recording material, includes an electrophotographic photosensitive drum; process mechanism(s) actable on the drum; and a projection provided at a longitudinal end of the drum, for engagement with a twisted hole provided in the main assembly of the apparatus, when the process cartridge is mounted to the main assembly, preferably by movement of the hole in interrelation with an operable member. When a driving rotatable member in the main assembly is rotated with the projection engaged with the hole, rotational driving force is transmitted to the drum through the projection/hole engagement. The projection is drawn into the hole, and the process cartridge frame is contacted longitudinally to a regulating member in the main assembly of the apparatus to longitudinally position the drum relative to the main assembly.

摘要： An electrophotographic image forming apparatus for forming an image on a recording material includes an electrophotographic photosensitive drum; a charging device for charging the photosensitive drum; a developing device for developing a latent image formed on the photosensitive drum into a toner image; a transfer device for transferring the toner image onto the recording material; a fixing device for fixing the toner image on the recording material; a motor; a main assembly side gear for receiving driving force from the motor; a twisted hole formed substantially at a center of the gear, the hole having a polygonal cross-section; a twisted prism projection provided at a longitudinal end of the photosensitive drum, wherein when the main assembly side gear rotates with the hole and projection engaged with each other, rotational driving force is transmitted from the gear to the photosensitive drum through the hole and the projection with the projection being pulled into the hole; and a moving device for imparting relative movement between the hole and the projection in a longitudinal direction of the photosensitive drum.

The cover is spaced apart between 20-50 mm from the housing at least in the retard position. An image forming system includes mounting equipment for mounting such a process cartridge, an airflow generator for generating an airflow passing through between the housing and the cover, a transfer mechanism for transferring a developed image formed on the image bearing member onto a recording medium, and a conveying mechanism for conveying the recording medium.

摘要： A method is disclosed for attaching a sheet for receiving toner removed from an image bearing member to a frame. The method includes the steps of adhering the sheet to the frame, using an adhesive, while bending the frame and releasing the frame after the sheet is adhered to the frame. A toner-guiding sheet for guiding toner removed from an image bearing member to a toner-receiving unit is also disclosed. The sheet is widened near a central portion in a longitudinal direction so that the sheet edge will conform to the bent shape of an attachment surface. A cleaning device is also disclosed. The cleaning device may include a frame and a sheet attached to the frame by an adhesive in a condition that a tension force is applied to the sheet. Further, the cleaning device may include a cleaning container having a wall that is thinner at a position near an attachment surface for a sheet than at a position away from the attachment surface, to facilitate bending of the attachment surface during application of a sheet to the attachment surface.
