    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure are directed to digital predistortion (DPD) for use with a multi-chain wireless transmitter. In various examples described herein, the multi-chain transmitter is configured to use a single common DPD device or module for all transmit chains and to adjust the bias voltages of the power amplifiers of the separate transmit chains to operate at substantially the same backoff so the distortion to the corresponding output signals is similar. Since the distortion of the output of the different chains is similar, a single common predistortion may be applied using the single DPD device to a signal to be transmitted. Techniques are also described for calibrating the predistortion coefficients of the DPD to optimize (or otherwise set) the amount of distortion reduction to be achieved. The predistortion coefficients for the single DPD may be set or calibrated based on a particular directionality needed for beamforming.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for providing wireless communication impairment correction using non-linear iterative precoding by a transmitter device are disclosed. The transmitter may exploit the non-linear transmit indications, and perform digital non-linear multiple input multiple output (MIMO) precoding of a transmit signal to improve the error vector magnitude (EVM) at the intended receiver device and/or reduce the adjacent channel leakage ratio (ACLR) at the unintended receiver devices. The non-linear transmit indications may comprise amplitude modulation to amplitude modulation (AM-AM) and amplitude modulation to phase modulation (AM-PM) indications. In operation, the non-linear transmit indications may be received from the intended receiver devices or may be measured by the transmitter device.

    Abstract: Aspects are provided for generation and transmission of MDMRS which allow matching of nonlinear model impact or properties between DMRS and data in DFT-s-OFDM waveforms as well as CP-OFDM waveforms. A UE transmits, to a network entity, an MDMRS generated from a DMRS. The MDMRS has a PAPR distribution matching a PAPR distribution of a signal including data in an uplink channel. A target PAPR of the MDMRS is based on a modulation scheme of the data. The UE also transmits the data in the uplink channel, where the uplink channel includes a PUCCH or a PUSCH. As a result of the ability of MDMRS to match the nonlinear impact of DMRS and PUSCH or PUCCH, the network entity may compensate for any EVM that may occur as a result of PAPR reduction by a nonlinear operator of the UE, and communication performance may thereby be improved.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for physical layer signature feedback to enhance security in wireless communications. A user equipment (UE) and a network entity may apply a physical layer signature, such as an artificial physical layer impairment, to one or more physical layer signals that may be measured to identify a physical layer signature of the associated physical layer signal. The UE, upon receipt of a physical layer signal, may check if the identified signal includes a physical layer signature of a set of valid physical layer signatures. If the received physical layer signature matches a valid physical layer signature, the UE may operate in accordance with procedures associated with the signal. If the received physical layer signature does not match a valid physical layer signature, the UE may transmit a message to the network entity that indicates an unmatched physical layer signature.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some cases, a device may perform a first analog to digital conversion (ADC) to generate a first set of samples of a wireless signal, and may attenuate the signal according to a dynamic range. The device may then perform a second ADC on the attenuated signal to generate a second set of samples, amplify the second set of samples, output whichever set of samples is greater. In some other cases, the second ADC may determine to attenuate the wireless signal based on an input power, amplify the signal, and output the amplified samples. In some other cases, the wireless device may determine an estimated input power of the wireless signal at a number of antenna elements. The device may then determine an adjustment to gain states of low-noise amplifiers (LNA) associated with each of the number of antenna elements.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Some systems may support digital post-distortion (DPoD) processing at a base station. In some such systems, a user equipment (UE) may process a data message for transmission, where a resulting signal associated with the data message includes non-linear characteristics that are handled by DPoD on the receiver-side. The non-linear characteristics may cause the signal to leak into out-of-band (OOB) resources, potentially resulting in interference. In some examples, the UE may transmit the data message to the base station in a multi-user system. To support mitigation of non-linear interference on signaling by other UEs, the UE may additionally transmit pilot signals in OOB resources (e.g., in addition to in-band resources) where the non-linearity may be expected to negatively affect other communications. The base station may use the OOB pilot signals to perform channel estimation and interference mitigation.
