摘要: A method of operating an Ethernet transceiver includes initializing the Ethernet transceiver during a training mode of operation by monitoring background link operating characteristics with on-chip circuitry during a non-data-transfer interval to establish a baseline alien crosstalk value. Training data is then transmitted at a first transmit power level and first data rate to a link partner during a data transfer interval. The link is monitored with the on-chip circuitry during the data transfer interval to detect feedback indicating alien crosstalk effects to neighboring Ethernet links due to the transmitting. The first data rate and/or first transmit power level is then adjusted to an adjusted second data rate and/or second transmit power level based on the feedback. The Ethernet transceiver is then operated in a normal data transfer mode utilizing the adjusted second data rate and/or transmit power level.

摘要: A method for testing crosstalk effect includes: obtaining a test signal and an interference input signal; inputting the test signal into a crosstalk effect test circuit obtained by simulation, so as to obtain an interfered signal; and when a rise time of the interfered signal or a fall time of the interfered signal is greater than a preset time threshold, determining that an excessive crosstalk effect exists in an integrated circuit under test. The crosstalk effect test circuit includes a first circuit, N second circuits, and N capacitors. The first circuit is configured to simulate an interfered first signal circuit in the integrated circuit under test; the N second circuits are configured to simulate N second signal circuits that interfere with the first signal circuit in the integrated circuit under test.

摘要: The present invention relates to a communication controller (131; 132) and method for controlling communications between an access node (101; 102) and a plurality of remote communication units (211; 212) coupled to the access node via at least one wired transmission medium (20; 40). At least one communication unit (111, 211; 112, 212) of the access node and of the plurality of remote communication units is configured to operate in full-duplex mode according to a first full-duplex communication profile (OP1) when using a first subset of transmission resources (TSSET1; TONESET1) selected from a whole set of transmission resources available for communication over the at least one transmission medium, and according to a second full-duplex communication profile (OP2) when using a second non-overlapping subset of transmission resources (TSSET2; TONESET2) selected from the whole set of transmission resources. The first full-duplex communication profile includes first downstream and upstream transmit power profiles (PSDDS1, PSDUS1) to achieve first aggregate downstream and upstream data rates (DSMAX1, USMIN1; DSMAX2, USMIN2) over the at least one transmission medium, and the second full-duplex communication profile includes second downstream and upstream transmit power profiles (PSDDS2, PSDUS2) to achieve second aggregate downstream and upstream data rates (USMAX1, DSMIN1; USMAX2, DSMIN2) over the at least one transmission medium distinct from the respective first aggregate downstream and upstream data rates. The present invention also relates to a so-configured full-duplex communication unit.

摘要: A network controller receives link metrics for network links on cables between network devices in a communication network. The link metrics include metrics indicative of crosstalk experienced by network links among the network links on cables. The network controller determines, based at least in part on the link metrics, respective link settings for respective network links among the network links. The link settings are determined to mitigate crosstalk experienced by the respective network links as a result of transmission of signals in at least some of the network links at baud rates that correspond to bandwidths that exceed maximum bandwidth ratings of respective cables of the corresponding ones of the network links. The network controller causes configuration of the respective network links based on the link settings to optimize performance across the plurality of network links in the communication network.

摘要: A method of operation on an Ethernet network having multiple Ethernet links interconnected via a network device. The method includes detecting installation of a new Ethernet link in the Ethernet network utilizing the network device. A link training process is then initiated for the new Ethernet link. The link training process includes transmitting training data at a first transmit power level and first data rate to a link partner during a data transfer interval. Network feedback information is then accessed, including performance metrics associated with the multiple Ethernet links during the training data transfer interval. The first data rate and/or first transmit power level are then adjusted to an adjusted second data rate and/or second transmit power level based on the network feedback information.

摘要: The present invention relates to methods and systems for minimizing alien crosstalk between connectors. Specifically, the methods and systems relate to isolation and compensation techniques for minimizing alien crosstalk between connectors for use with high-speed data cabling. A frame can be configured to receive a number of connectors. Shield structures may be positioned to isolate at least a subset of the connectors from one another. The connectors can be positioned to move at least a subset of the connectors away from alignment with a common plane. A signal compensator may be configured to adjust a data signal to compensate for alien crosstalk. The connectors are configured to efficiently and accurately propagate high-speed data signals by, among other functions, minimizing alien crosstalk.
