    摘要: A process of forming a single color image comprising:a) imagewise exposing, by means of a laser, a dye-ablative recording element comprising a support having thereon, in order, a hydrophilic dye-receiving layer, a hydrophobic dye-barrier layer, and a hydrophilic, water-soluble, infrared-absorbing layer which absorbs at a given wavelength of the laser used to expose the element, thereby imagewise heating the infrared-absorbing layer and the dye-barrier layer, causing them to ablate;b) removing the ablated infrared-absorbing layer and dye-barrier layer material;c) contacting the imagewise-exposed element with an aqueous ink solution and thereby removing the remaining infrared-absorbing layer; andd) drying the element to obtain a single color image in the ablative recording element.

    摘要: A lithographic printing plate is comprised of an anodized aluminum support having thereon an oleophilic image-forming layer comprising an infrared-absorbing agent dispersed in a film-forming cyanoacrylate polymer binder. The plate is imagewise exposed to a focused high-intensity infrared laser beam which removes the oleophilic image-forming layer by thermal ablation to thereby reveal the underlying hydrophilic support surface. The cyanoacrylate polymers provide superior performance due to their combination of low decomposition temperature, good ink receptivity, good adhesion to the support and good wear characteristics.

    摘要: A process and apparatus in which a thermal dye is not carried by a donor element or sheet, but is provided in liquid form to a reservoir which supplies the dye to the surface of a donor roller. The dye is transferred to a transparent receiver sheet which is in close proximity to the roller surface, by exposure of the dye to an information-bearing radiation beam which is projected through the receiver member. Such a process and apparatus eliminates the need for a separate dye-donor element, and results in a lower cost process.

    摘要: A thermal dye transfer process, and intermediate receiver used therein, for obtaining a color image which is used to represent a printed color image obtained from a printing press comprising (a) imagewise-heating by means of a laser a dye-donor element in contact with a polymeric dye image-receiving layer of an intermediate dye-receiving element, thereby transferring a dye image to the dye image-receiving layer, the intermediate dye-receiving element comprising the dye image-receiving layer and a layer substantially opaque to light at the wavelength the laser is operated at, (b) adhering the dyed polymeric dye image-receiving layer to a final receiver element, and (c) separating the opaque layer from the dyed image-receiving layer. Preferably, the opaque layer is reflective, and most preferably specularly reflective.
