    Abstract: A display device including a peripheral circuit portion with high operation stability. The display device includes a first substrate and a second substrate. A first insulating layer is on a first plane of the first substrate, and a second insulating layer is on a first plane of the second substrate. An area of the first plane of the first substrate is the same as an area of the first plane of the second substrate. The first plane of the first substrate and the first plane of the second substrate face each other. A bonding layer is between the first insulating layer and the second insulating layer. A protection film is in contact with the first substrate, the first insulating layer, the bonding layer, the second insulating layer, and the second substrate.

    Abstract: A display device suitable for application is provided. A display device capable of displaying images with high quality and with low power consumption is provided. The display device includes a first display portion, a second display portion, a non-display portion, a first substrate, and a second substrate. The first substrate and the second substrate are provided to face each other with the first display portion, the second display portion, and the non-display portion provided therebetween. The first display portion and the second display portion are provided apart from each other with the non-display portion therebetween. A plurality of liquid crystal elements are arranged in a matrix in the first display portion. A plurality of light-emitting elements are arranged in a matrix in the second display portion. The liquid crystal element reflects light to the second substrate side. The light-emitting element emits light to the second substrate side.

    Abstract: To provide a thin touch panel, a touch panel with high visibility, a lightweight touch panel, or a touch panel with low power consumption. A pair of conductive layers included in a capacitive touch sensor have a mesh shape including a plurality of openings. Furthermore, a material blocking visible light is provided to overlap with a region between two display elements in a plan view; thus, a light-blocking layer can be obtained. Furthermore, the pair of conductive layers included in the touch sensor are provided between a pair of substrates included in the touch panel, and a conductive layer capable of supplying a constant potential is provided between a circuit which drives a display element and the pair of conductive layers.

    Abstract: A display device with low power consumption and high display quality is provided. The display device includes first and second electrodes. One pixel includes a region in which the distance between the first electrode and the second electrode is constant and a region in which the distance varies; this structure allows the switching operation of liquid crystal to start in a predetermined region, thereby improving the stability of the operation of the liquid crystal. A pixel region is divided into two regions in which the liquid crystals are aligned in the two respective directions when switching is performed, whereby viewing angle characteristics are improved. Furthermore, the supply of a potential to a third electrode suppresses alignment disorder of the liquid crystal and improves the display quality.

    Abstract: A display device with a wide viewing angle is provided. A display device with a high aperture ratio is provided. The display device includes a first display element, a second display element, and an insulating layer. The first display element includes a first pixel electrode configured to reflect visible light. The second display element is configured to emit visible light. The second display element includes a second pixel electrode and a common electrode. The first pixel electrode is positioned on an opposite side of the insulating layer from the second pixel electrode. The common electrode is positioned on an opposite side of the second pixel electrode from the insulating layer. A shortest distance X between a first plane and a second plane is longer than or equal to 500 nm and shorter than or equal to 200 μm. The first plane includes a plane of the first pixel electrode on the insulating layer side in a display region of the first display element, and the second plane includes a plane of the common electrode on the insulating layer side in a display region of the second display element.
