Abstract: An apparatus includes at least one communication module; a memory; and a processor operably connected to the at least one communication module and the memory. The processor is configured to identify multiple external electronic devices by using the at least one communication module; determine time schedule information based on a number of the multiple identified external electronic devices or based on a location measurement scheme; transmit the time schedule information to the multiple external electronic devices by using the at least one communication module; transmit first information to the multiple external electronic devices at a first time assigned to the electronic device, based on the time schedule information, by using the at least one communication module; receive second information from one of the multiple external electronic devices at a second time assigned to the multiple external electronic devices; and determine a distance from one of the multiple external electronic devices based on the first information or the second information.

The memory may cause the at least one processor to receive a first list of wireless channels for a direct connection from a first external device, establish, as a group owner, a first wireless connection with the first external device acting as a group client by using a first channel selected from the first list, listen for a probe request over a second channel every selected time period, receive the probe request from a second external device during the selected time period through the second channel, transmit a probe response to the second external device, receive a second list of wireless channels for a direct connection from the second external device, and select a third channel.

Abstract: According to various embodiments of the present invention, an electronic device includes: a display; a near-field wireless communication circuit configured to repetitively transmit a scan signal for finding an access point; a processor electrically connected to the communication circuit; and a memory electrically connected to the processor, wherein, during execution, the memory can store commands for allowing the processor to set a transmission period of the scan signal as a first period, to determine whether it is necessary to adjust a scan frequency on the basis of a trigger for turning on the display when the display is turned on, to maintain the transmission period as the first period when the scan frequency adjustment is not necessary, and to change the transmission frequency to a second period shorter than the first period, when the scan frequency adjustment is necessary.
