    Abstract: Methods and apparatus are described for a User Equipment (UE) to transmit and for a base station to receive a Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest ACKnowledgement (HARQ-ACK) signal in a resource of a Physical Uplink Control CHannel (PUCCH). The HARQ-ACK signal is transmitted from the UE in response to a detection of a PDCCH transmitted from the base station and conveying a DCI format that, depending on the PDCCH type, can include a HARQ-ACK PUCCH Resource Offset (HPRO) information field. The UE and the NodeB determine the PUCCH resource depending on the PDCCH type and, if the DCI format includes the HPRO, also depending on a PDCCH transmission type.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for the transmission of physical downlink control signaling. In one method, a User Equipment (UE) receives information associated with a physical resource block (PRB) for enhanced physical downlink control channel (EPDCCH) from a base station. Based on either first information received on physical control format indicator channel (PCFICH) or second information received on higher layer signaling, the UE determines a starting orthogonal frequency division multiple (OFDM) symbol on which EPDCCH transmission starts. The UE receives control information on the EPDDCH based on the information associated with the PRB and the determined starting OFDM symbol.

    Abstract: A method and system for transmitting and receiving a control channel in a dynamic Time Division Duplex (TDD) system. Upon receiving a control signal DCI for a first Hybrid Automatic Retransmission Request (HARQ) process from a Node B, a User Equipment (UE) determines whether TDD configuration is changed in a radio frame to which the DCI is to be applied. If the TDD configuration is changed, the UE determines from the DCI whether retransmission for the first HARQ process is required. If the retransmission required, the UE interprets some bits of a Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS) field in the DCI as a target HARQ process index for the first HARQ process. As a result, the most is made of available UL data channel resources, contributing to an increase in the capacity of the dynamic TDD system and a reduction in packet delays of the UE.

    Abstract: Apparatus and method for multiplexing control information bits and data information bits into sub-frame symbols depending on the location of symbols carrying a reference signal (RS), to provide an estimate for the channel medium and enable coherent demodulation for signals carrying information bits. The control information bits include ACK or NAK and/or channel CQI bits. The ACK/NAK bits are placed with priority in symbols around the symbols carrying the RS, to allow for improved accuracy of the channel estimate, followed by the CQI bits when both ACK/NAK and CQI bits exist. Moreover, the sub-frame resources required to achieve the desired reception reliability for the control information depend on the operating conditions and can varied to minimize the associated control overhead.
